I think it's a real possibility that nothing happens. That's okay with me. It's not that any realistic trade at this point is going to make a difference in the near or long term.

Even a role player or draft pick is better than nothing as long as we do not take back anything to hurt the cap in the future.

The problem at this point is finding a team willing to eat a contract for cap purposes.

If we trade with Houston, for example, we either need to take back 3-4 players to make salaries match or we need to find a team such as Indy, Toronto, or Sacramento willing to take a player as part of the deal.

Maybe. But I'm not so sure what happens in the offseason when it comes to Okafor or Kaman. Nobody does, really. Same for Ariza for that matter. I guess what I'm saying is that this isn't a desperate situation like CP3.

True, but we can also figure that Kaman probably won't be part of any rebuilding effort here unless Dunleavy has a lot of pull with the new ownership.

I like him, but if we can get other pieces we need in exchange for him I'd pull the trigger.

Adrian Wojnarowski ? @WojYahooNBA

Several teams say New Orleans is getting more realistic on asking price for Chris Kaman. "They won't get a 1st for him," one official says.

Thanks chad!

Well, a second is pretty much the same as nothing 90% of the time, imo.

Now if someone would part with a reliable bench player or two . . .

If we could get any combo of Patterson, Budinger, Lee with Thabeet thrown in for salary, that's a win.

i'm surprised that we can't get a late first round pick for a center who has shown he can produce.

To follow up on the Indiana trade for Barbosa, Sam Amick is claiming that they're also getting Anthony Carter from the Raptors.

This means they're now down by about $9m in cap space, to $5m, and have no open roster spots.

This doesn't eliminate them from eating a contract as part of a multi-team deal, but it depends on them shipping out a guy on an $800K deal to take someone like Jordan Hill and his $3m deal.

A 3 team deal involving Houston would be nice.

Get back a guy like Buddinger or Williams to be our 3 of the future and possibly sell off Ariza to someone for something decent in return

I think we're more likely to get decent offers from Ariza this off-season than we would now.

He's still got two seasons at $7m left, one of which is a player option he'll take unless he really breaks out next year.

I agree, but his value is at an all time high right now. I wouldn't want to dump him for some chump, but if someone wants to overpay for him by all means..
