with a healthy squad this team would be right at .500 or a few games above it, but sure

Wouldn't shock me to see better play from the other two guards- addition by subtraction.

Not a knock v Jrue, just that roles for Gordon and Evans are clearer with him out.

As long as Davis is healthy, there will always be a reason to watch the Pelicans play.

I absolutely HATE myself for even saying this. If we want to tank, you keep CMW around. He's doing a great job at making us worse.

Most people here predicted a season at or close to .500. Isn't that where 2 or 3 more wins would have the team?

I predicted 47 wins.

2-3 games better would still be under .500 so you're wrong

no…4 or 5 games would put us at or above .500. not 2 or 3.

Homie you're arguing over a game or 2. The general idea of my post was on point.

"I don't think many people would have expected the team's record to be much different than it is now had the team been fully healthy all season... maybe 2 or 3 games better."

I am not too worried about the record as it currently stands but I have a hard time seeing this team accomplish anything with Ryno and Jrue out for any extended period. You would think with such a young team, you wouldn't get hit this hard with the injury bug.

Only way this makes sense is doing Bower 2.0, letting Demps coach them and guaranteeing job security. You can't bring in a new guy to tank. You can't make an assistant the coach since he has no job security heading into next season when George Karl takes over and brings in his own people.

Trying to tank would be a horrible idea anyway, there are quite a few teams out there who could easily out-tank the Pellies.

No doubt. I actually think a team that is forced to make AD and Reke carry the team won't be bad at all so long as Smiht and EG know their places.

Don't tank! It'll be so hard to get that top 3, I just don't want to tank and end up giving the 76ers a top 5 pick. We don't need to go into losing mode, we've seen enough of that, just keep playing hard work on learning eachothers games and next year hopefully we'll see a nice improvement

The pick is top 5 protected. Still a very hard target to aim for this season with the East being so bad.

I think the Pelicans should just try their best to trade Gordon for cap space or say a Greg Monroe type of player, and then let Monty suck it up the rest of the season.

Honestly, Monty will lead to the tank even if he's trying his best to win games. The Pelicans have hovered around 0.500 purely on their talent alone and in spite of their coaching. Take away two key pieces and possibly a 3rd (Gordon) and it will be the last two seasons all over again.

A trade for Monroe could honestly be perfect. They could use this season to see how he fits on the team and if he'd be a potential long term solution at center and if not, he's a restricted FA and at worst the Pelicans can get a pick or two out of him if they aren't willing to match on a max-type deal for him.

I know people feel he's a defensive liability, but with good coaching, this team has enough good defenders to account for it (not under Monty of course).
