I'll say it again: Dell Demps is talking to everyone. A ton of people want #Pelicans job. The real news emerges when Demps picks a favorite.

Except Hoiberg, apparently. Too bad.

I think people don't realize that it will take a ton for Hoiberg to leave ISU.

I think you don't realize that he has basically already accepted the Bulls job.

No, Gentry is the first shitty name. I'm not a Skiles fan but the guy has a far better record than Gentry. In 12 years as a HC, Genrty had 1 winning season. Skiles has 13 years as a HC and has 5 winning season and a higher winning percentage. The talent Gentry and Skiles had to work with was pretty much the same.

Skiles isn't coming here. The Pels are using him and he's using the Pels; both are creating leverage to use against their real target.

I disagree with the "Pels talking to Skiles to create leverage" talk. I don't think there is a ton of genuine interest, but I do think it is the team during their due diligence.

We have Anthony Davis, what other leverage do we need? The only candidate that we share in common with another team is Gentry with the Bulls (that we know of), but that job isn't opened yet, and it's well documented that Hoiberg is their first choice. If we want Tom Thibodeau, JVG, or any other coach besides Hoiberg, he's ours.

I don't think the Pels are using Skiles as leverage, Skiles is using the Pels to get more money out of Orlando who probably offered him way less than the $7-$8 million they were rumored to be willing to pay Thibs. JVG would never buy Skiles as leverage against him, Thibs or Hoiberg could be different though.

The leverage isn't to gain acceptance of the potential new coach, it's to gain concessions on his demands for money and/or power.

I agree with this.

I still don't see it, and I know you are more speaking of why others think that, because you obviously agree with me from what you said above. We have AD, some decent players around him, and a long list of coaches that would want the job. If a candidate is asking for too much money or power, tell them to take a hike. I don't think we need to actually interview Scott Skiles to show that there are other coaches interested in the position, and that we have other options.

But the Pels are in a funny situation where Loomis might be fine with giving JVG everything he wants and Demps may see the asteroid on a collision course with him and is hoping to deflect it some.

All I know is that I seriously doubt Skiles will be hired by the Pelicans. If so, I'm headed for a summer long funk.

Scott Skiles would be comparable to Kevin Steele.

Make sure no kids sitting around the team bench, might want to keep them back about 10 rows. Had the chance to sit next to the Bucks bench when he was coaching. Even at my old age I learned new words that night lol

I think it's hilarious that Skiles is one of the biggest "discipline" guys in the league. The same guy who fathered six kids out of wedlock, got arrested three times in college for drug possession, and would have been blackballed from the NBA for all of his off-the-court issues in today's social media landscape is the biggest complainer about todays' players.

Wow.

Talk about going in a TOTALLY different direction than Monty.
