Ryno being traded scares me

Someone explain to me how trading Ryan Anderson for Morris will help this team in anyway. Ryan averages 18 ppg 7 rpg and Morris averages 11 ppg and 5 rpg. Ryan is about the only player on the team except Anthony Davis that can create his own shot. If they are going to trade Ryno it needs to be for someone better than Morris.

Because your traditional stats don't tell the whole story.

I really like Ryno, but he's awful defensively.

Morris is being a shithead right now, but he's better than his stats show.

Yeah, let's trade the ONLY player that can keep us in games when AD is out (and often even when he is in). Easily our second best player. I know people love their moneyball stats, but when I focus on him for stretches watching his D, I just don't see where he is THAT bad to cancel out his O. I really want a Ryno Mardi Gras jersey right now, but I'm sure the minute I buy one they'll trade him. He is the only player aside from AD that I absolutely want to keep unless it's in exchange for a no-brainer star.

He may not be a liability on defense, but he doesn't help you much at all outside of rebounding.

You're giving up some for improvement elsewhere. We're not winning with an expiring ryno, we may try to get something else that may fit.

I learned on this site that fans who wear jerseys are trashy...

Creating your own shot isn't as important as ball movement. Look at the Spurs, Hawks and Warriors. I'd rather a team of ball movers that get open shots and layups versus someone forcing the issue, i.e. Ryan and Tyreke.

Ryno is getting moved at some point this year unless we go on some absolute tear.

He is an expiring that is going to get overpaid next year which means he won't be on our roster next year. He's also a valuable trade commodity. He gone.

I love Anderson too, but I think you've only focused on his defense this season. He was absolutely, positively a defensive liability the previous seasons as a Pelican.

He lost a good bit of weight and is quicker this year. He has made some quality defensive stops this season.

Like I said in a previous thread, if the Pels' want to trade Ryno, now is the time to do it.

I'd table this thinking until more rumors appear

Y'all Ryno is great when he's in a rhythm, but awful when he's not and is the type of player that shoots until he gets that rhythm. He shoots a contested 3 >12 seconds into the clock all too often and it kills momentum. He has value and is a good player but he is a liability often.

If all we can get for Ryno is a guy who cries when he can't play with his brother and commits felonies, then I would argue that Ryan Anderson is not a valuable trade commodity.

Remember who we traded to get him right? Gustavo Ayon.

I would not trade Ryno unless it's for a top 18 pick in the draft or possibly 2 late first's. Otherwise, I'd just let he and Gordon expire and try to make a run at a max free agent. If that doesn't work, then overpay some guys on some 1 year deals and try again next summer.

You do realize that ball movement is only as good as the guys that can create opportunities to make good passes, right? All of the teams you listed above have guys that can either: Create their own shot, or create a good look for others.

While those teams do a great job of moving the bakk around the court, when things break down, they have the guys to go out and make a play.

GSW - Curry, KT, Barnes, Iggy to name a few b/c they are loaded

Hawks - Millsap(career year so far) & Teague

Spurs - Leonard & LaMarcus

We only "traded" Ayon for him to create a trade exemption for Orlando. Anderson was really a FA signing.

from everything I've seen... Ryno may very well get a max deal this offseason

I've never wanted to trade Ryno but if he is worth a max deal in this market then we need to get SOMETHING for him... b/c we can not give him a max
