Saw this article today about Doc & Austin. Decent story, but this excerpt had me laughing.

quote:

even though Austin is the only player in the three-team deal who has even been marginally productive since the trade.

LOL-SPN. So Qpon having more points and minutes and a meaningful role apparently means nothing?? GTFO

That guy obviously didn't watch the Pelicans pre and post trade.

28 mpg, 9 pts, 3 reb, 1.5 ast, 45% fg, 43% 3fg

Yea, not productive at all.

ETA: actually Qpon wasn't part of that trade. Qpon was in the Boston, Memphis, NO trade, which was what sent Rivers to Boston, then a separate trade sent him from Boston to LAC.

Not that Rivers has set the world on fire, but outside of his 3 point shooting Pondexter isn't very "productive". His contributions just don't show up in the stat sheet. Same with Cunningham, he had career lows in most categories yet most Pel fans were quite pleased with how he performed.

Not sure I have seen a less impressive stat line spun as a positive. You had better be an all-NBA caliber defensive player with those numbers.

He's a very solid defender actually

He's not asked to take on a scoring load. His 3 point percentage was elite in the 2nd half and he won us quite a few games.

That's a lot more than I can say about rivers.

He's only getting paid around 3mil per year and for his constant production/intangibles/defense it's a steal with the new cap.

If it wasn't for QPon, this team wouldn't have made the playoffs.

FWIW: Q-Pon wasn't part of the 3-team deal that sent Rivers to the Clippers. The trade was Rivers to LAC, Reggie Bullock to PHX, & Shavlik Randolph + Chris Douglas-Roberts + 2017 second rounder to BOS.
