I am not a "fan" of any sports team.

Trust me, if you meet enough of these guys, you realize quickly that it is foolish to get invested at all in pro sports. There are millions of things more important than this junk.

But I am fascinated by how much people care about sports. So I like to lurk and be a part of the conversation. I can't logically figure out why people care so much.

Because we like to believe in something. A think of a lot us don't care, at least not truly, about the players personally. I am sure there a few exceptions.

I am fan of the Pels because they represent my home state. If they do well that means more people are watching which means more casual fans can be attracted to them. That means that local businesses (bars, restaurants, etc) will be attracted to them and then in turn attract customers which is good for our local economy. It also means that the team can give back to the community.

I played my whole life so it also means it's a thread of connection back to the sports I grew up loving to play. I wouldn't know ATL, Bunch, grand, hendo, or the rest of the guys here on PT from Adam on the street but I know them and they know me through here bc of our connection as Pels fans. Call me crazy, but to me that means something

You need to dive into and examine your own personal philosophies

Wait so you wonder why people care so much about sports? So you want to discover this by following the smallest most non caring fan base in the NBA?

He cares so little about sports that he spent countless hours not getting paid blogging about a team that he hates

The local teams are on the local news casts and in the local paper and radio every single day. You can't buy that kind of exposure. If there was a daily Brawndo Report we'd probably all crave electrolytes.

On top of that they play in amazing stadiums and arena that put them near the top of the local food chain for things to do for locals. They are iconic local businesses that allow their customers to participate in their success and create unique lifelong memories associated with them.

I didn't think it was possible but you have become worse as a poster. In fact you're worse as a poster than you were a sport journalist and it's because here your name isn't next to your idiotic opinions and ideas. Thank you Michael thank you.

I wouldn't say we are the most non-caring. Basketball is a distant third in this state. Saints and LSU football will also be top billing and then LSU baseball follows suit.

It can be a thriving sport but here I think it'll mostly have niche hardcore fans and mostly casual fans who have nothing to do on a random night. However winning changes that. People forget how bad the Saints were before the Payton-Brees era. A lot of people in this state were Cowboys fans (many still are)

Since the thread has been derailed let's try to get it back on track.

Does Goodwin get any minutes tomorrow and what kind of role/fit does he have? I wish we would we have gone after another big or maybe made a trade for an Anthony Morrow type

If signed yes, I could see Goodwin putting in maybe 10-12 minutes.

You care so little that you:

wrote for a fan blog extensively

have done and still do hours of podcasts regarding the team

Have hundreds of posts about the team on multiple message boards.

Sounds like you don't care a whole lot.

The "I'm not a fan" thing is always quite interesting. Your history, and amount of time you have and currently do dedicate to this team, says otherwise.

I feel wack typing a paragraph about this team feeling like I care too much and I'm a big fan. This guy wrote multiple articles weekly with hours of research and watching hours of film and he's not a fan? This guy is a joke its not like he was doing it to get paid either.

Any Pelicans fan who doesn't live in Louisiana would rather see this team owned by one of the richest men on the plane

I am a Pelicans fan. I live out of state and have for 5 years. I have no desire to see them owned by anyone except someone who wants them to remain in New Orleans.

I know you're in a troll-y little mood tonight sitting all alone in Mormon country. Your holier than thou routine is worse than 42s, though.
