yea, like what if the Pels and AD totally take the league by storm this upcoming season?

It could snowball into a ton of attention, and possibly make NOLA that much more attractive.

You guys do realize San Antonio is a small market team and look at what they have done

That had nothing to do with market size. It had to do with a proven winning tradition with the best coach in the game. NOLA has neither.

I guess my question is: What path would you prefer? Just say, "Ah, there is no chance. Let's just take somebody we know we can get."

Really, I want to know more from those opposed to this

That's a dream come true

A) we get Durant
B) we get porn
C) you get banned

I'll ask my question again, I guess
what is the FO doing now in anticipation of winning over durant that they would otherwise be doing differently

yes of course they will try, next year, just like everyone else
your argument is that durant will want to play on a winning team with Davis
the pels have Davis already, obviously they'll try to win

no one is saying they don't want to try for durant
we are saying it's a long shot at best and the team is not making decisions based on that they otherwise wouldn't make

If the Pels could get an average SF with a 3 yr contract for free, I am saying they wouldn't do it.

Look, people can believe whatever they want, but I do not think the Pels brass thinks 'KD is a long shot at best'

It's a long ways away and a lot can happen. I guess I just wonder why people don't believe our team is smart enough to think this way. Do you not assume Washington is lining things up? Miami?

So, why isn't this organization? I get that people don't want to get their hopes up for something unlikely to happen. But the Pels will make a push. Believe or don't, it honestly doesn't matter to me.

Michael

what are the pels doing to "line up for durant" that they otherwise would not be doing? what SF on a three yr deal did they purposely not pursue?

you keep saying we are discounting the reasonableness of eventually pursuing durant...nobody is saying that. I am saying that this organization is in no way team building around the effort to pursue durant

(very) best, the speculation is premature
at worst, it's throwing shite at the wall and hoping for readers/retweets/clicks/whatever the kids are into these days

of course they'll make a pitch to durant, so will every other of the 29 teams. please point out any decision or deal made or not made this offseason that has anything to do with that

5 pages and counting already

The best thing they can do is run a first class organization and produce on the court, going after Durant or not. They need to legitimize the perception of the franchise across the league. Free agents will be interested if they do that. If they get just a meeting with Durant next summer, that will be a win in and of itself.

I have no clue what you want to hear to answer this question. I will throw it back at you. Washington is said to be lining up for him. What are they doing?

Again, I couldn't care less what people want to believe. This "click" stuff is hilarious to me, because 1. There is no article and 2. I don't get paid regardless of 1 click or 1 million.

This team will not jeopardize the opportunity to pitch Durant for anything short of another star and you will continue to hear familiar rhetoric over the next year. This is not stuff being thrown up against a wall, but it is already growing tiredsome. Sorry I said anything.

15-20 teams will have room for KD next year. All of them will take a run at KD. If our roster is healthy, if we improve over last year, and assuming AD continues on his current path, KD will listen to Dell's pitch next summer. All we can ask for.

How many of those 15-20 do you think will get a meeting with KD?

Having max cap room means you can theoretically sign KD. I don't think that is the same thing I am talking about here. Mostly because we will be in the room with him. Now, THAT is my opinion. What isn't my opinion is that there are those in the organization who think they have a real chance. I doubt there are people in Detroit or Utah, etc. that think they have a chance.

Regardless, it is a year away. So much will happen between now and then.

I don't really get what you're asking here. Its a long term plan. The goal is to make Davis and the rest of the team look happy and win. That's about it. Make New Orleans desirable. I don't know what else you can really do right now.

Washington is where he grew up
of course they feel like it's a chance worth taking

if the pels are team building around the chance at durant then I want everyone fired

this is getting stupid
sorry

I guess here is the better conversation if we want to have an actual discussion:

Which guys or types of guys would you forgo the whatever chance you believe we have at Durant for? If you could have a bird in the hand, what kind of bird would that have to be to forgo a shot at Durant.

For me, of the guys who might be moved this year, the list is Melo and Cousins. That's it. I wouldn't do a Gordon for Parsons trade, for instance. I would rather a 10% chance at Durant than 100% chance at Parsons this year.

So, let's talk in those terms.

much better

perhaps the argument should be that the team would hold future space for a second star (not durant) in lieu of a quicker lower tier fix in the moment. On that I agree wholeheartedly. Davis needs a running mate, and he is not currently on the team.

the gettable players I would forego a signing for are Anthony, cousins, Howard, nowitzki Westbrook and that's probably it. You either draft a star, trade for a star, or sign a disgruntled star.

As you say a lot can change in a year...

Westbrook is an interesting name. Say things go bad this year and OKC knows what is coming with Durant. They can't get value for him because he refuses to guarantee he will re-sign anywhere. OKC then decides to get as much as possible for Westbrook.

Very unlikely. But getting any star is unlikely.
