His decision making isn't smart, he takes very low percentage shots

When he's asked to bail out the offense. Those fade away post ups are rarely at the start of the shot clock, it's usually a "Ryno bail us out" after the offense can't get anything else going. This team has been asking guys to play roles ill suited to them all year. Ryno is like Tyreke in that he should be doing less than we're asking him to do.

He needs to learn how to pass, I think everyone can agree on that.

His role is to shoot 3s, so he shouldn't pass if he's got an open shot, when he's in the post it would be nice if he'd be more of a hub than forcing a shot, but that requires teammates moving.

But according to what I' e read elsewhere, AD loves when Anderson is on the floor in place of Asik.

So does Chris Kaman and a whole lot of other players who get tired of the challenge of having to score over big guys who can actually defend.

Try and let him play out of his slump, hope that he can improve his trade value or distinguish himself as a vital part of this squad.

You would replace him with a player who's effect on the offense is close enough to Ryan Anderson's that his massive defensive upgrade would allow him to be a better player

Career Anderson is one of the most effective weapons in the league and worth the defensive liability. This year's Anderson is not the same on offense (no more post ups pls) and his defense has dropped off dramatically. That he still has such a positive effect on offense despite a poor shooting year is a testament to just how much his mere presence impacts the offense. Watch Davis's insane lob from yesterday and see what Harrison Barnes is doing on the play. Smart teams still respect his ability.

The question is whether they believe he will regain his career form or not. That's a tough decision. If he regains his form, he is certainly worth his salary and keeping around. If not, you can find someone similar to that Anderson for much cheaper.

even if u get a worthless 2nd rounder, you still get his $8.5M cap hit freed up...replace him with someone who can actually play D. his 34% from 3pt isnt exactly hard to replace...

I don't think his trade value is as low as people here think. I think people on the national level still look at him like a core-type guy.

Hey remember that one time this summer I suggested trading Ryno and everyone laughed at me? I think I actually suggested we should try and trade him for QPon, which now seems smart because QPon is the better player but also dumb because we got him for that Rivers guy.

In any case, here is TigerinATL's response:

"You are insane if you would be happy trading Ryno for QPon."

Very good recall. I don't think anyone expected Pondexter to be as good as he's been or Anderson to struggle as much as he has. Kudos to you.

I'll repeat, career Anderson is not worth just dumping. This year's Anderson is. And I'll bring up Anderson's on court numbers with Davis: they are right at the top of the team, even with a shitty year. That pairing works. We saw and will continue to see in this series Davis as 5 unleashed. That is the future.

Are you speaking only of the offensive numbers? I'm sure you are right if you've looked them up; however, I have a hard time believing any of Ryno's defensive numbers/metrics "work" too well. When you watch the games, he's either getting flushed on or way out of position when he's on D...just an absolute sieve..

They don't. But the Net difference between offense and defense is among the best on the team. It's something like the offense is 5 points better over 100 possessions. That is very good. Is it sustainable? Who knows, but it shouldn't be dismissed so easily.

I don't know who put it in Ryno's mind to start taking fade away jumpers out of the post when a smaller guy is on you, but he should be shot.
Everytime he does that Monty should yell at him furiously, as well as teammates and tell him to quit fricking fading away when a 6'4" guy is on him.

Something just seems off with him this year. Doesn't seem himself. I don't want to get rid of him, but if it nets us something positive, like a first rounder or a decent trade, i'd like it.
I have confidence he can turn it around next year.
Ryno is a great guy to play against a team like GSW, where Asik is pretty worthless, where as Asik is the perfect guy to play Memphis, where Ryno is pretty worthless if he can't hit his 3's.

Because we all knew Anderson was going to have a bad year.

Ah yes it was totally unforeseeable that a guy who had to have his SPINE fused together might not be the same player anymore. I'm sorry man. Idk what I was thinking.

Trying to wait for that perfect time to make a move only raises the chances for something that makes him less likely to be dealt happening.

Anderson never played defense, never could rebound, and his NBA career relied on him being an AMAZING shooter and shot creator.

When he isnt shooting great, he shouldnt even get 15+ minutes

The reason why I do not like him and want him gone is because Monty doesnt know how to use him

Lets be honest, other than AD we are weak at the Frontcourt. I want to trade Anderson to get a BETTER Front court player.

We will miss his 3's and great personality, but this is a business not a personality contest

On a side note.... I will again say Ryan Anderson for Tristian Thompson is what this team needs. I doubt the Cavs do it now seeing how easy it is to attack Anderson in the paint

Ryno can erase his entire off year by going off the rest of this series...even if we lose in 6 or 7, that's ok... there's no way we make it that far unless he's on fire.
