Pelicans contracts

Will we move Ryno this offseason? Opinions? Is he attractive enough as an expiring contract?

I'd rather let him rebuild some of his trade value next year and look to move him closer to the deadline.

Just trade him somewhere who needs a shooter and pray they haven't watched much tape of his defense...

...or his shooting.

i know Ryno is in a slump but have people seriously already forgotten that just 2 years ago Ryno was one of the best 3 shooters in the league?

I know there are some issues with his playing, but he's a great guy. I've heard so many stories about him and the city needs more people like him. He will get out of his shooting slump eventually. He'll improve his game

His decision making isn't smart, he takes very low percentage shots on top of not being able to hit wide open 3s. His defense has always been bad, but everyone knows that. He tries to do things but he just can't.

He needs to learn how to pass, I think everyone can agree on that.

He's really one of our only trade chips. I thing Gordon's expiring will be worth something as well.

Although again I'm not sure we do a whole lot.

Start of the year he was considered a 6th man of the year candidate. He's capable of being a very good off the bench weapon. I believe he's still rusty as frick, and is mentally out of it as well.

It is interesting how perception changes. For two years the talk was Anderson was too valuable to trade. If this thread would have been started a year ago, for instance, the consensus would be not to trade him. The time to trade him was last offseason.

Now everyone wants to sell low on the guy. The calculus here is whether he can rebuild value and what could you get for $8.5 million that would enhance this team? For that amount of money, you would be buying one elite skill. Anderson's is shooting. What skill would you replace him with?

What makes you think he will do that? If he were projected to do that, it would already be factored in to his trade value.

Not the correct way too look at it IMO. Basketball games are won by efficient offense and defense. You would replace him with a player who's effect on the offense is close enough to Ryan Anderson's that his massive defensive upgrade would allow him to be a better player.

I think the perception chance in Ryno has been 2 things. A, he's obviously just WAY worse. Worse on offense and worse on defense. May never be as good. B, our offense seems to do fine without him and our defense needs to change. It's pretty clear that our offense will continue to be fine as long as we have AD and a decent core of guards. Unless we are satisfied with mediocre, we need to do something on defense. Anderson's absolutely miserable defense in big minutes at his salary is by far the easiest place to start.

People are realizing how important defense is. David Lee went from a borderline all-star to a guy who receives DNPs because Golden State realized what makes a good team and how you win basketball games. Props to their organization for not following a status-quo stubbornness to continue to play an inferior overall player because he is elite at a very transparent part of the game. We need to follow suit.

I hate the slump that he's been in this season, but like with EG the previous years, you can't trade hurt/slumping players. If they're hurt/slumping, they have little-no trade value. If they're healtht and playing well, they're most likely worth more to us than what we can get back in a trade.

Ryno is in a slump, but the depth of the team has improved to where he is not a vital piece like he was in the summer of 2013. If we can get good values for him, preferribly a 3 I would be open to the idea of trading him (that also applies to anyone not named Anthony Davis).

But according to what I' e read elsewhere, AD loves when Anderson is on the floor in place of Asik because it opens the floor for him. In the beat analysis of yesterday's game that I read, the attribute our 4th quarter surge (which was all AD) to that fact.

Having AD and Anderson on the floor at the same time makes sense against the Warriors.

What do you have to lose. His trade value is as low as it has ever been.

I think it is more likely that he is traded during the season for a team looking for an expiring contract.
