Besides our own guys/SL guys (Miller, Fells, Aminu), who all is left that could potentially gives us minutes at SF and be had at the minimum? Hamilton, CDR, Garcia? I doubt Marion would play here and/or for the minimum.

Wesley Johnson, too...and you're likely right about Marion. But if Matrix wants to start for a good team, this is his best spot.

I think they want Darius Miller to emerge. His end-of-season performance was very promising (esp. defense and mid-range shooting), but he really just needs to take another step as a spot-up 3-point shooter to become perfect for this team's needs.

If my math is right, Clippers can now only sign ONE more player. Just $1.15 million below tax apron of $80.8M with 12 players under contract

Too bad we weren't able to pick more fake contracts. I'm sure they'd love to get Dudley off the books.

Boss Benson

No reason for such a small market to be so high on that list. I wonder what the limitations to the fake contract strategy are and why they aren't used more often.

One limitation is that late in the year you typically only have minimum exceptions left. Just think if Demps had signed Ely to the full Room Exception which we allegedly had. Then Ely is a $2.7 million contract instead of $1.3 million.

If the top of the roster is healthy heading into the playoffs I wouldn't mind seeing whoever is this year's Lance Thomas (Darius Miller?) get cut a few days before the end of the season to resign Ely. Unfortunately I can't see us doing that if we're headed towards the playoffs unless the player is injured like Stiemsma was.

If you just count the cap numbers(like asik) we'd be in the middle.

the rockets had 5 of the players in the current top 30 salaries last year and couldn't even get out the first round

Now waiting to see if enough is being dangled, beyond Wiggins, to entice Timberwolves to trade Love to Cavaliers.

@Fear: Yeah they pretty much have to. I would love to get rid of EG somehow if it turned into a 3 way but it's doubtful.

Which is still great considering our market. There's not much we can do to surpass the cap since we aren't extending our own players recently.

As predicted and good for the Pelicans. It would send a star player East, put the TWolves firmly beneath us as they get younger, and keep the Warriors from getting better.

Wolves should absolutely do this trade. And if Im the Cavs, I'd be real nervous about giving up Wiggins without some kind of commitment from Love to resign long term.

I think he's already said he'd do a long term deal.

They wouldn't do it if they got no commitment.

That's supposedly been the hold up from both the Cavs and Warriors, Love won't commit to pick up his option.

quote:

there continues to be a sense that Wiggins would only be included if Love agreed to opt-in to the final year of his current contract and lock him into Cleveland for at least two seasons.

Love’s option is also what is believed to be blocking a possible deal with the Golden State Warriors.

...During this week’s Summer League in Las Vegas, there was a sense among NBA executives that Love would not agree to opt-in for anyone and that he wants to get to free agency and lock in a five-year deal. Given Love’s injury history and escalations in the salary cap, the belief is that Love wants to get his Carmelo Anthony sized payday, even if that is simply re-signing with the club that has his rights at the end of the season.

The problem with that scenario is it would be hard for a serious contending team to risk giving up huge assets for Love without assurances he’d be on the team beyond this season.

The Cavs and Warriors are very much at the table on Love, the question becomes who will blink first and pull the trigger?

Holy crap I know this trade mutually benefits both teams. But the wolves are going to benefit so much more long term since they aren't contenders anyways with love. Bennet, Wiggins, and a first rounder the wolves better stfu and take it. Cavs will win a championship possibly next season but wow that's a lot to give up. Where was these kind of offers when cp3 was on the block.

Yea, for some reason they have Asik's salary number and not his cap hit listed (who cares about his salary number when looking at this stuff?). The Pels are between 12 and 13 on that list.

Woj-

LeBron James has reached to tell Kevin Love of his desire for them to play together with the Cavaliers, front office sources tell Yahoo.
6:41pm - 17 Jul 14

Broussard-

Sources: Suns offered Eric Bledsoe 4-year, $48 million contract. Bledsoe wants max of 5 years, $80 million. Sides far apart

Wonder if this means that the Heat will try to grab Bledsoe, they are one of the only teams with the required cap space.

Also jrues cap hit is 9.7(i think) versus 11 Mil plus who knows with casspi/babbit(2 mil combined)

We're not in bad shape discounting EG(15 mil). Take him away and we're at 51 mil even(18th or 19th)
