Yeah. EG looks like he's ready to have a contract year and with the way the roster is currently shaped, you really only want to trade him for a decent SF which isn't going to happen. Chris Copeland and cap space doesn't do anything for us at this point.

Wasn't Indy offering him $9mil/yr?

Or am I mistaken?

The story this morning was that Stephenson was trying to get a similar deal from Indiana, but they were reducing $/yr to go along with years. Basically, Stephenson wanted his cake and eat it, too. He wouldn't commit long-term to Indiana, but expected them to commit cap to him.

They were, but with the new TV deal expected to make the cap continue to rise, from a players perspective a 3 year deal is better than a 5 year deal. In 3 years $12 million might be the new $9 million.

Gotcha. Didn't know they were talking 5yr deal with him.

Anyways, Charlotte is interesting next year.

Copeland, Cj Watson, plus filler?

Anyway, I think they are probably going to stick with Cj Miles probably.

Serious question: Would it be a waste? If we could get an expiring to sign a FA SF next year, I'd think that would be worth it.

We'd have legit starters at every position at that point with Ryno and Rivers coming of the bench.

I was being sarcastic because of all the Noel/Pelicans post the past few days. Fail on my part.

The Noel talk is ridiculous and annoying. I've watched a couple of their summer league games. not saying he can't improve but he looks like another Tyrus Thomas to me.

If Noel is a long term PF:

That makes the trade more in our favor imo.

This. People in the Noel camp seem to overlook the fact that he plays the same position as AD.

A lot of people are optimistic that he'll opt out after this year anyway, if he stays healthy, to secure a long term deal. I guess it's up to our FO to determine if they feel like if he'll opt out or not, and take the chance to trade him for an expiring, but dumping if for nothing if he may opt out will only hurt us this year.

Probably would have been our starter.

Not sure who the source is, but McNamara said we offered Alan Anderson before Salmons.

Idk about that. He's only started 41 games over the past 8 seasons combined. He's only averaged 20 mpg twice in 11 years and hasn't since the 07-08 season.

Given our lack of options, maybe you're right but I wouldn't have penciled him in there right away.

Guess we're still looking at SFs, unless the offer was pre-Salmons signing.
