If we are being technical, we already have the medical trade exception from the Rondo injury (3 consecutive games with at least 4 players injured) to add a 16th roster spot.

The Ajinca medical hardship exception won't kick in until Portland (3 consecutive games with 5 players injured). And I assume the exception is only good to add one player regardless of how many more are injured.

So the way I interpret the rule is that the exception will expire when Rondo returns, however the Ajinca exception will takes its place until he returns (assuming he's the second out the 5 injured Pelicans to recover from injury).

He can actually run an offense.

Nelson/Holiday/Cunningham/AD/DC

Then when Rondo returns you have him run that second unit

It's a pg dream.

I hope we can somehow flip Crawford for Ennis. We need a sf bad and Memphis needs shooters

my thought is Jrue continues to start at PG until Rondo returns

I think Jrue trained this summer expecting to be the aggressive scorer on offense. I believe a large part in this move is to better define Jrue's role and get him comfortable in it. Because whatever he's been doing has him all out of sorts.

We need the Jrue that played in that second preseason game against the Bulls

I'm guessing this is because we wanted to sign Nelson to a guaranteed contract.

But damn I'm going to miss him being that spark plug. I think you can go back and look at Crawford's demeanor since the beginning of this season, I believe he saw the writing on the wall

It sucks, I enjoyed watching Crawford play at times, but Nelson is a much better fit for the team. I don't see where Crawford would get minutes with Jrue, Rondo, Moore, Nelson, and Clark all getting minutes in the backcourt.

Yea he'll catch on somewhere else. But there were no minutes for him here.

For those lamenting the loss of Crawford, Nelson is a career 37% 3 point shooter and is actually a PG, a role they were asking Crawford to play. It's not like they let him go for Gal Mekel. Remember that year they brought in a steady stream of fringe NBA players to play PG? Those were the days.

I'll forever regret not buying a Dan Dickau jersey

Trust me I'm definitely not upset with this move. I'll take Nelson over Crawford 1000 times out of 1000. I just personally liked Crawford.

And like I speculated before, I think they bring Crawford back on the hardship exception. Crawford is a bad player who can get streaky, but even then his defense is horrible and his offense is selfish. Nelson is going to help this team so much more than Crawford. Nelson is familiar with Finch, he can help play point when Rondo goes to the bench later and provides depth in case of another Rondo or Jrue injury. I don’t get how anyone can be anything but extremely happy with this move.

This cannot be overstated. Our first quarters have been phenomenal. Then we move away from the Finch offense when the second unit comes out and as the game progresses. If Nelson can fill in during those stretches to get the team back into the offensive rhythm and continue the pace, Im not saying we will score 39 points every quarter but it'll be difficult to score under 25.

Pelicans gonna make me eat my words

Not sure I understand why.
