Because I think the Rockets are more likely to win a championship in these next 2 seasons than the Pelicans are? I know y'all hate the Rockets around here, but even you know if you are honest that they are further along in the championship hunt than the Pelicans are. They reached the conference finals and just added Ty Lawson. Pelicans have not even won a playoff game with AD yet.

The only way what I said was controversial is if you are letting your hatred of a team supersede honesty.

That was an aberration, and will not occur again in the next two seasons.

'Cept anyone who watched NBA last season knew HOU was one of the top teams all year long. 2nd best at seasons end if you're being particular.

Houston was favored to go the conference finals when entering the playoffs?

ETA: going into the postseason Houston had the 5th best odds of western conference teams to win the NBA title, but you probably knew that already.

That's based off of public idiocy/perception. If all the bettors had seen what I saw all year they'd have been 2nd best odds.

They finished 2nd in the West in the regular season and 2nd in the West in the playoffs.

They were predicted to be about 5th before the season started and they had the 5th best odds to get to the Finals once they made the playoffs.

That means the bettors underrated them all year. In reality, they were the 2nd best team in the West. The perception people had of that team doesn't matter. They won the games.

And this whole discussion stemmed from me saying Jason Terry has a better shot at winning a title in these next two seasons with the Rockets than the Pelicans. The Rockets are further along. They've paid some dues in the playoffs. They're steadily creeping further each year and upgrading each year.

That's not to say the Pels can't win a title in the future... I just don't see it happening in the next 2 years. They've gotta pay their dues in the playoffs.

Not sure if I should start a thread but,

quote:

NEW ORLEANS – The New Orleans Pelicans announced today the team has signed free agent rookie guard Bryce Dejean-Jones. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

ETA: Oops saw the thread on first page. Wonder why I'm just seeing this press release.
