Yeah, I guess Amico let Cole's agent use him like that now to get bigger stories later. It would take less than 5 minutes to check their roster and cap situations and realize that those teams couldn't have serious interest. So does Cole's agent think he's fooling Demps with this, or is he trying to fool Cole? Either way this script has only had one ending from the start.

Pretty sure they are under the salary floor- Thompson for Wallace was to take on salary. If they want Cole, they should have the cap space. Roster space is the likely issue.

With Canaan, Stauskas, Jackson, and Wroten on the roster, I don't know if they want him taking minutes from younger guys at this point. And that's without wondering how much $$/playing time Cole would need to consider jumping to Philly's Island of Misfit Toys.

Can always work out a deal with either team if they wanted Cole bad enough.

Question is, does either team have anything the Pelicans would want

They mustn't want him very badly if they've gone all this time without making an offer. Cole played decent enough for the Pels, but he was dumped for John Salmons because he had been terrible in Miami with an expanded role on the team. A team would have to be desperate for a backup PG to overpay for Cole, because he's an RFA and overpaying plus possibly giving up an asset would be the cost of acquisition.

Or do we just keep Toney Douglas?

we released him

Wouldn't be surprised if you see Pondexter playing the 2 guard alot more often and leave the 3 for Cunningham, Gee, Tyreke, Anderson ( fingers crossed)

Curve ball: AD plays the 3, Ajinca 4, and Asik 5

AD 3, Anderson 4, Asik 5

Why not

the danger with cole and players like him (of which we've employed many) is that as their roles expand they become worse

on a good team, with a specific role and set minutes, he's valuable
start/play him for 30+ minutes and he will disappoint

i see no way that he would be a good fit for the sixers
they come up as a "suitor" because the have cap space and zero proven PG's

Per league source, tentative (not yet definite) NBA schedule in circulation has New Orleans playing the Heat on Christmas in Miami at noon.

They are looking for a one year solution, not a multi year solution, and I believe the RFA rules require a multiyear offer sheet.

perhaps, but a multiyear deal doesn't matter to the jazz, or it shouldn't. next year they'll be close to 20MM under the floor with like 14 signed players. they have to spend that money on somebody.

plus burke is just about a bust, only other PG they have is the dude from brazil

if i was cole's agent i'd be burning up the phone to SLC

I'm told the Jazz are interested in pursuing veteran guard Garrett Temple from the Washington Wizards to shore up their point guard platoon.

Kicking the tires on a player that's never gotten more than the minimum. That's a good sign regarding potential interest in Cole.

Celtics release Zoran Dragic, could be another body, 14-15th man if Cole or Terry don't work out. Not really a fan though bc he's slow.

Nope, he's going back to Europe. He's not an NBA caliber player.

I don't think the Pels can offer Terry much more money than the Rockets, but he might get more playing time. But then again if he wants a title, the Rockets are closer to that being a reality than the Pels are, and he doesn't have many years left in the league.

So I guess it comes down to a chance at a ring vs. more playing time and a slight bit more money.
