Since everybody has been asking me for the past month or so...I'll go ahead & announce my pick at #14 for the Pels...

Dereck Lively: Rim protector, decent in drop defense & can even become decent at switching on P&R.

Offensively...Obviously a solid "lob" prospect and the KEY point on offense will be his eventual ability to hit the open 3-point shot. YEAH THAT'S RIGHT...I'M KINDA BIG ON HAVING OUR 5s BEING ABLE TO HIT THE 3 !!! So...that's Nance, Jr and Lively...with Val no longer being around since we move him to some team which I shall name later.

On Lively's shooting, please remember...neither Lopez nor Horford...COULD OR WOULD...shoot a 3-pt shot for their first 8 years in the NBA. And now...?? Lively is just gonna start foggin' up those 3s...8 years ahead of Lopez & Horford. Live & learn.

Put me on the lively train. He's not gonna be an all star but i think this guy is gonna have a 15 year nba career as a solid center

If we just would have taken Duren last year. Now we could be looking at all of these combo/lead guards without pressing to find a big man..

Somebody said Lively signed with Klutch. Hard pass if so.

Yeah he signed with Klutch, so what?! He not the only player that did. Obviously the Pels don't care since they interviewed and met with Lively and other Klutch players in the draft. At the end of the day if the guy can play that's all that matters. You worry about the other stuff later.

Getting back to more likely scenarios, the latest CBS mock has us taking Lively

LINK

I really do think he ticks off a lot of the boxes in terms of what we're looking to improve. His rim protection and ability to switch and guard the perimeter solves two of the bigger issues we have as a team.

Still need another ballhandler, but I think Lively has potential to be the defensive presence we lacked for much of last season

ETA: It appears Sam Presti also likes him, so that could be an issue

I like Lively with our pick. I thought we could easily get him there, but seems like he is rising quickly.

Same thoughts here. I think he’s a steal at the pick considering his potential and our needs. I’m actually surprised he’s not expected to go higher. Is the draft that deep this year?

It does seem to be a deep draft.

[Stein] Multiple teams have shared in recent days that Dereck Lively II has true Tyson Chandler potential. Lively is being projected as a top-10 pick, with Atlanta A) known to be interested and B) known to be discussing trades with Dallas that would move the Hawks up from the 15th pick to No. 10

Looks like there is some strong indications that Lively is going to go before 14. Doesn't look like center is in the cards in this draft.

If lively's gone i would love to trade back with brooklyn. Something like 14 + Kira for 21 + 22.

Dump Kira, draft James Nnaji, and Maxwell Lewis

I'm not sure James Nnaji is a first rounder at this point.

I have no clue what Nnaji’s BBIQ is like, although he supposedly has good defensive instincts, but he’d have to be a Jaxson level dumbass for his NBA ready physical tools to not work out. I’d expect him to be a rotation player pretty quickly because he can be a vertical threat on offense and rim protector on defense from day 1 if he has a clue.

He's currently a fringe rotation player at Barca, I was assuming he was more of a G league stash with the potential to play if we had injuries?

Wanted to clarify that I don't have strong feelings about Nnaji because I've never seen him play, just kinda going off scouting reports and mock drafts from people I trust.

To me the BBIQ is a big deal and I have no good way to evaluate that. But young guys not getting much run in euro ball is pretty common. I wouldn’t hold that against him other than it means his game tape is against lesser competition.

Yea Euroball is for sure good competition and it's not disqualifying to not play much as an 18 year old. Just feels like there's some unknown there and even if he has the BBIQ it may take him a bit to contribute, which is okay for a later 1st rounder...but maybe in that hypothetical trade back scenario Duck posed we take a swing on Nnaji along with an older college player who profiles as someone who should hit the ground running, relatively speaking.

Not sure what his upside is since he has limited film but he has some impressive measurements. He definitely doesn't move like a 7 footer with that kind of length.

7.0FT
7'7 wingspan
251lbs
9'4 standing reach

The Pels seemed to have learned their lessons of high potential without feel for the game with Jax/NAW/Kira. I'm not saying they should take Nnaji, but if they did I'd be excited because he clearly passes the physical tools test.

Did they? Are we all on board that Dyson will be a good player? Amazing defense guy but man his offense was hard to watch.

I am. A 19 year old with those defensive instincts and the physicality to switch onto bigs is about as unheard of as what we got from Herb his rookie year. It just doesn't happen hardly ever and suggests he will be an elite defender his entire career.

Does he have a long way to go on offense? Yes, but I think his floor is what Lonzo became before injury, and his ceiling is what Lonzo and Ben Simmons should have both become if they weren't so soft/finesse.
