No longer at ESPN. Thank you to everyone who read and supported me throughout my 9 years there. Means more than you can know.

He did good work, the blood letting going on over at ESPN is a shame. Thanks Justin and Good Luck

I do hope he gets on with a local affiliate. He does good work.

ESPN fired many good people.
NBA guys like Ethan Strauss, Watkins. All the NHL staff.

It sucks...

I've kinda wondered with technology the way it is now what the benefit of sending writers on the road truly is. Like a one or two week road trip, yeah probably send them out for a few nights to keep contact. But one night trip to Dallas or whatever seems unnecessary.

I hope so. I like Verrier a lot.

Sucks but it was inevitable. ESPN can't afford to keep all of these local beat writers around.

I get the cost aspect, but I do think something is lost when you aren't embedded with a team day in, day out.

you can't replicate access/trust nor overstate the ability to be in the right place at the right time.

like TBW tweeted- only 1 regular traveler, who is employed by the team, is a problem.

I think the bigger news is that Henry Abbott (true hoop) was let go
his writing notwithstanding the blog network includes our own BSS

I've never seen it explained how exactly the "network" works as far as content/access/platform etc, maybe Michael could explain it and if this affects them at all

in any event Justin is very well respected (I didn't know he was a long time editor as well as reporter) and I doubt he will be job hunting for long. He would be a major upgrade at the TP if they have any intention of covering the team

We opted out of money/funding from ESPN a while back because we wanted to actually have a unique voice and not a cookie cutter site with rules given by them and forced to throw ads all over the page like other sellout blogs

So it won't effect us one bit.

It won't. There is no thirst for it, so nobody will put money into it.

You are stuck with us bloggers, Jim E-- who can only report positive because he works for the team, and some part timers
