Good question. I really wonder what exactly takes part in a typical NBA physical. It never occurred to me before, but it may be a good idea to do XRays on the legs/back. Maybe some teams do that. Maybe all or none do. I have no idea.

Settle down Beavis. First, neither Trey Burke nor MCW are great young guards. One got benched and the other was such a cornerstone he got traded.

Huh? I'm not trying to flame on you, but MCW is one year removed from rookie of the year and with Holiday's injuries and his favorable salary, I would unequivocally take him right now over Jrue.

I think the point of this is that because Philly didn't disclose the injury history, we didn't specifically look for signs of the injury in the physical. If this was intentional, then we deserve more compensation because it would be sabotage at that point. We gave up a first round pick and paid out 20+MM over two years for what was an injured player they had no desire to keep.

Him winning ROTY in that class isn't exactly high praise.

He's of the least efficient players in the NBA.

He shoots less than 40% and turns the ball over way too much. He's also zero threat from outside.

What an embarrassment. Who is responsible for this crap. Demps better get his ship straight or he will be selling tamales on the corner of Franklin and DeGaulle.

MCW is a sub 40% shooter dude. It's clear that you haven't actually seen MCW play either.

We're talking about a player who has some deficiencies that could probably be fixed with the right coach, who is on a cheaper contract as opposed to one who has been out for over half of the games since being traded here.

He has a LONG way to go before he's respectable. By the time he does,he'll be on his second contract.

You can trick yourself into thinking that about almost any player

Has a player ever had a chronic problem with stress reactions? I'm legit curious because I don't ever recall a player getting it multiple seasons in a row.

Absolutely, stress reactions are generally chronic unless you significantly reduce your stress load on the effected body part. And they tend to be reoccurring unless you strengthen that part extra and take significant time off for it to fully heal

Isn't that what led to Sam Bowie's demise basically?

A lot of players hide stress reactions from their teams and try to play through them and they get significantly worse and result in a serious injury you can't play through. I'd imagine a lot of players have been derailed by them. I think we've managed Jrue really well though

This isn't about Jrue hiding the injury. It's Philly

Very shitty, but not unheard of.

OKC forfeited a 2nd Rd pick because of the Jeff Green deal. Philly is claiming the Lakers withheld info in the Bynum deal.

I wonder how the league views the penalties here: is $3M a bigger blow than a 2nd?

And, IMO, Holiday has to speak up. Wanting to be out there for your team is noble and admirable. Disregarding pain and/or potential injury as a 22, 23, 24 year old up and comer is just reckless. It's not bitching, it's advocating for yourself and protecting your health. And to be clear, teams need to encourage that type of response from players.
