The 76ers were ordered to pay the New Orleans Pelicans $3 million by the NBA last season for not fully disclosing Jrue Holiday's injury history before he was traded two years ago, according to two sources.

The Sixers traded Holiday, an all-star point guard, to the Pelicans on the night of the 2013 NBA draft for the rights to Nerlens Noel, the sixth overall pick that year.

The sources said Holiday played with stress fractures in his lower right leg during his final season with the Sixers. However, the sources said, those injures weren't fully disclosed to the Pelicans.

Sixers general manager Sam Hinkie declined to comment, but a Sixers team source disputed the allegation.

The Sixers denial could be legit, most of the league is pissed at Philly for the excessive tanking, but $3 million seems like the wrong compensation, they should be forced to give us a 1st.

Waiting for Hinkies' lackeys in the media to come hard to his defense. All part of the master plan right?

Just because he had the issue in Philly doesn't mean it will be a yearly issue. He didn't get the surgery until he came here.

Also, you'd have to think that this was behind those rumors that the Pels were looking to buy a pick. I guess either the Lakers/Celtics weren't selling, or they didn't like who was available.

Its been 3 seasons in a row. All stress reactions/fractures in the same leg.

Presumably they couldn't have covered it up so easily if he received significant treatment for it in Philly. He certainly didn't have surgery, and he only missed 4 games his last year in Philly towards the beginning of the season, so they didn't even give him rest treatment.

I've mostly been a negapel on Holiday's health every step of the way with NorthShore, I just don't see this as changing the complexion of his injury any.

He's missed huge parts of the last 2 seasons with an injury he suffered before he got here.

The same injury. 3 years in a row.

Of course it changes how we look at it. It can't happen 3 seasons in a row and be called a fluke.

How can we not expect it to crop up again?

Has a player ever had a chronic problem with stress reactions? I'm legit curious because I don't ever recall a player getting it multiple seasons in a row.

Injured 3 years but played 78 games in year 1 of the injury and didn't receive an "official" diagnosis and get treatment until the middle of year 2.

Stress fractures can be career ending for sure. Hopefully the screw removal solves the issue. If not he'll probably never be whole again and the team should get a hell of a lot more than money.

Our training staff should of caught it in the physical prior to the trade being finalized... right?
