Larry Nance Jr is 31 y/o with injury history and averaging 41.5 games a year the last 4 years. We don’t ever win a championship if we value off court leadership on the decline > healthy basketball players with potential Is Larry Nance Jr in our long term plans? No! Cut him loose. So sick of “well this guy is a good person/ good presence”. We have like 10 players under 26 y/o that all need minutes and plenty draft picks. Stop wasting money and time

You can argue this all you want but thats just not going to happen. You can value “players with potential” but Griffin values “off court leadership more” and frankly with how immature this team is at times I don’t blame him.

Off court leadership is very important to winning a championship even it means at times passing up on players with more potential.

I don’t think we’re wasting money and time. We’re playing pretty well right now and everyone is healthy. You don’t win championships over night.

I can argue it, It’s complete horse shite. We already have CJ making 30mil, we have Val making 15mil, Zeller 2mil 47mil in “off court leadership” isn’t enough???

The Bucks didn’t have much more off court leadership. The Suns didn’t have that much more off court leadership before CP3/ Durant

Most other examples are mainly due to on court play. We just need our actual stars to grow the frick up and they are. Now you build off of that or find younger guys who will take their place.

Not find ways to hold on to 31 y/o Larry Nance Jr.

JV is an expirer as of now and Nance will be an expirer next season. We don't know if they're returning yet.

I mean I get this but I have a feeling JV is begging to stay and Nance has mentioned several times how he wants to make this his last stop. I think its upto the pelicans whether they want to extend them or not- personally I don’t think its this they’re looking to get into free agency kind of thing with both of them. Probably why pelicans have been patient with both to see if its worth extending them.

Meanwhile Val has averaged 71 games and pretty much a double/ double the last 4 seasons and y’all want to move on from him and keep Nance

Its horseshite??!! CJ and Val have been amazing on the court and off the court this season. I have no issues with the money they’re making. Zeller making 2 mil is nothing and he plays hard and has contributed well.

Suns before CP3/Durant were a horrible team.

You need to chill. You don’t just dump vets that play extremely well because you don’t like their price tag. Nance is 31- you’re acting like hes 35. Hes also been playing great basketball lately.

I think you're missing the key part where most that want to move Val want to move him for another center, whereas your trade Nance proposal conceded that would mean adding Zeller to the rotation.

Do you truly not see that point of clarification that makes it not just a "keep Nance and trade Val" proposal like you're making it out to be without the additional context above?

I understand what you are saying.

The answer is that Nance. Is. Not. In. Our. Long.Term. Plans.

Are we going to have to replace him after next year? So why not now? Could he miss 60 games and it wont even matter? There’s probably a 40% chance.

We most likely aren’t winning a championship this year and again if Larry Nance is making or breaking that then we fricked up anyway and have to restart….

Play Hawkins, play Dyson, play Trey at the 4, try out your other lineups, figure out your roster for the future.

You’d be replacing Nance with another PF/ C. I already mentioned Zeller would still have prob 10min or less and we should be trying other lineups anyway.

And this would be just for this year.

Why “upgrade” from a double/ double Val and pay 20-30mil when we can keep him for 15-20mil and draft/ acquire 2 young centers for less?

I dont know man giving up Hawkins and JV for Mark Williams??

I like Mark but I see a lot more potential in a guy like Hawkins. In a shooting league im not ok trading a good young shooter on a rookie deal for a big on a rookie deal.

Even a Nance for Olynyk expiring swap.

Getting rid of Larry is insane, but Olynyk is not a bad idea as a 3rd center. He should be a great fit with our Big 3. If we were to do a consolidation trade, then this is an idea that I like. And I don't think that it costs a lot of additional draft compensation either -- maybe a pick swap or two.

See, this is where you are operating from a different premise than Shel and me, because we are thinking about making a run this season. And I think that Griff is too. We have too much talent to punt and wait 'til next year.

I really like this trade. And it helps us in so many ways. But again comes back to the question- will Gayle go into tax this year? And do it they do it for Olynyk?

Liddel/ Nance/ Kira for Olynyk would be more likely and ideal with Naji’s value.

Wait you rather keep Naji? Why?

I don’t understand why your so insistent in getting rid of Nance this season.

No because I also mentioned that if Larry Nance is that crucial of a deciding factor to our success then we already fricked up and we definitely aren’t winning a championship this year. I have more confidence than y’all considering I think we have the potential without Larry.

Give Trey/ Dyson/ Hawkins more minutes.

MAKE Nances roll unnecessary with the talent we have instead of relying on him for the 20 minutes he gives 40 games a year

This trade puts us an extra 10 million in the tax…..

Olynyk for Nance/ Kira/ Liddell. Gets us out of the tax and enough cap space to sign 2 of our 2 way players Robinson/ Seabron/ Ryan for playoffs

So now you’re more worried about the tax then winning championships?

You do know you have to be in the tax to win right?

What about Andre Drummond? He's been pretty good for the bulls for 2 seasons and is only making 3.3 million.

Kira + EJ or Zeller works and i think it gets us out the tax after we sign matt ryan

Right. The window is now. We're years behind schedule, we can't keep punting seasons away.

We're in play for a top 4 seed, if that holds up to the deadline and we haven't hit some downward spiral or crushed by injuries, go for it. Make the consolidation trade to get better right now. Don't worry about the window 5 years from now and whether Dyson or Hawkins may turn out to be good players in 2027. Throw together assets and get you an upgrade for THIS season.
