Trade proposal that was suggested by the Celtics play by play annocer: Anthony Davis to the Celtics for Isiah Thomas, the #1 pick this year and Brooklyn's #1 next year. Would you do it?

Pairing IT and D.C. is not going to work. Both would be gone after this year. I wouldn't trade AD, but To even think about it before rejecting I'd need Brown, Bradley, Smart, Yabu, Crowder, 1st this year and 2018 Brooklyn 1st.

Would rather trade cousins, but if I had to...

Give me #1, Bradley, and crowder/Brown

PG: holiday/fultz
Sg: bradley/Moore
Sf: brown/hill
Pf: diallo/cunningham
C: cousins/ajinca

Nah. But that is close to the kind of deal it would take to get something like that done.

I wouldn't do it because I don't see anyone in this years draft that's projected to be a superstar like AD

Maybe a conversation I would have had before the Cousins trade. But now? Pass.

The interesting question is if they hadn't traded for Cousins would you make the trade. I think if Cousins resigns Davis extends so now we have better than 50/50 odds of keeping AD for his 3rd contract. Before Cousins all we had was the new big money extension so I'd put the odds at closer to 30/70.

Fultz, Buddy (no Cousins trade in this universe), Diallo, #10 this year, a top 5 pick next year (our own) and a top 10 pick next year (Brooklyn's), plus whatever you could flip Isaiah Thomas for, or maybe you could get Jaylen Brown instead. That's a nice "move on from your superstar" package that you'd have to consider if you have any serious doubt about AD staying.

Give us Brad Stevens and I'll consider it.

Wouldn't even consider it. No one on their team, or anyone in this draft is worth losing AD.

For 1, I don't think Fultz or Ball will be much better than Jrue, much less AD.
And B, the Celtics are full of role players outside IT, and I don't think IT can lead a team to a championship as it's best player.

All around no.

I'd gladly give them Cousins though.

right. they have an opportunity to put something together with Davis/Cousins. not much hope before that trade.

2017 #1, next years Nets pick, Brown + one of Bradley/Rozier/Smart wouldnt have been a bad start to a rebuild.

Ziller on the Sixers being the new Celtics

quote:

There are no guarantees in this league, just opportunities. The Celtics have an opportunity to build something really special. The Sixers have the opportunity to have that opportunity.

It speaks to the power of having a plan — a blueprint for getting from the bottom back to the top.

Uh huh. If Tim Frazier scored near 30 a night instead of 7.
