What type of contract we are looking at for Jrue next year? I'm thinking maybe 5 years 110 million?

Does he play 75+ games? Is he efficient on both sides of the ball? If yes to both, than I agree.

If you answer no to one of the above, then I think we let Jrue walk.

The floor is probably 4/$80 assuming he's healthy and productive. I wouldn't be shocked if he got a max offer, but the contracts might not be quite as crazy next season. There will be a bigger supply of top tier FAs next year to soak up more of the money, and the cap projection got revised down from $107 to $102. Many teams were expecting it would get revised up to $110, so the free spending this offseason and lower than expected escalation next offseason means teams will have less money than they thought to go after FAs.

If we don't win 50+ games he will demand max from us. He's been pegged as a cornerstone and face of the franchise with AD since day one so I wouldn't be surprised to see his agent demand he's paid like it. I honestly think he leaves if we don't overpay.

Get in the playoffs this season and he could want to take a Batum like discount to stay.

Im scared! I'ld go with the lowest offer thats still fair. He's shown his skills and abilities but this smells like Ego 2.0 as far as health is concerned.

PGs grow on trees. (Hyperbole but you get the point.)

Another organization might be able to roll the dice a bit on his health, but we absolutely can not.

ETA: I hope he is healthy, and if so I hope we re-sign him.

Not even close to the same thing. Holiday's stress fracture was clearly mismanaged for a year and then once they followed the proper protocol last year we didn't hear about it again. If he makes it through this season without any problems it shouldn't be anything to worry about. If you don't have the stress fracture to worry about, then his injury history is pretty clean unlike Gordon's.

Once you have a stress fractilure you have a 60% chance of having another. To add to the fact that he's a professional athlete where his body gets abused daily it is a serious issue.

Do you know the cause of Jrue's stress fracture? Was it due to a pathological reason, or due to overuse (or change in activity levels)? Without the answers to those questions you have no idea of the probability of recurrence in his injury.

So I guess Golden State shouldn't have signed KD. Maybe that's what actually has been keeping QPon out and not his knee. AD had a stress fracture his rookie season too, I really don't remember that, maybe they just called it a foot injury.

quote:

These fractures are incomplete fractures and not always debilitating; remember when Anthony Davis (former UK basketball star and rookie for the New Orleans Hornets) suffered from one in his foot earlier this year? He took proper precautions and rested his foot in the hopes that it would heal up with no further incident. He made the right decision.

If Jrue was a lumbering big I'd be worried, it's a death sentence for those guys. If he has any restrictions next year I'd be worried, but people also heal and return from these injuries too.

Apparently keeping Jrue is Solomon Hill's top priority. From a Black and Blue report interview that will come out next week:

quote:

the Los Angeles native discussed re-signing Jrue Holiday when he becomes an unrestricted free agent next July.

“He has a year left on his contract,” the 6-foot-7, 225-pound forward told Pelicans radio broadcaster Sean Kelley of the point guard. “My main thing is showing him why he should stay. I’ll do the same thing for everybody else. My main focus is retaining Jrue Holiday.”

...“I’m here to do whatever Coach G (Alvin Gentry) tells me to do, regardless of position, playing time, whatever I need to do to get on the floor. I just look forward to it, the fast, up-tempo pace that we want to play. Playing with guys like Jrue Holiday and AD, it’s exciting.”

No wonder the NFL players are pissed.

A flash in the pan, system, injured player is paid based better than the NFL's best.

not exactly true, but it is a fact that according to a few studies 60% of athletes who put their tib/fib through a lot of impact (running, track, basketball, etc) and had a diagnosed stress fracture showed that they had one in the past.

1 year recurrence rates in those athletes were 12.6% as well. After that, there's not much good data otherwise.

If they're pissed they're idiots

Completely different cap and roster setups(NFL rosters have over 3 times as many players)

And flash in the pan/system
