PG's are so easy to find.

So, instead of a vague, simple statement like this, could you please tell us your contingency plan if Holiday walks?

Who would you go after and how much would he cost?

Thanks

Which is why we are in a shitty situation and his agent will ask for a max offer if he's healthy this year.

If he has no leg issues next season, I would have zero problem giving him 20-25 mil personally

I would be surprised if he doesn't have any leg issues if the pels don't offer him a contract for 5 years and 125 mil

Probably the most realistic post in this thread. People are throwing out some unrealistic numbers.

As long as he's healthy and is considered a core piece, I fully expect 20-25 as the starting point. Could be more if he puts up all star type of numbers.

With a healthy season, he could easily be seen as on par with Conley, if not better (and younger). The price tag could be huge, but I am only against something if there are realistic options that are better. For those firmly against paying Jrue - again, if he has no leg problems- I would be open to hearing the realistic alternatives

What would Jrue's cap hold be? I'm as big of a Jrue fan as there is on this board, so I'm biased, but that's something to possibly put in the "Pro re-sign" column.

If Jrue plays well and is healthy, the only way I see us letting him walk is if someone like Hayward wants to come here, or maybe if Galloway and Jones tear shite up, are willing to re-sign for solid deals, and we can't make all three work without the latter two's Bird Rights.

I'm a big Jrue fan myself, so pending a healthy season I'd start the conversation at 4/$90m. If he walks away from that or if he has more knee/leg issues I'd look at Kyle Lowry or Jeff Teague. Lowry being 31 may be a risk but he's still an All-Star caliber PG. 4/$95m. Don't know if he'd want to leave a winning situation in Toronto though.

And it's not even as simple as that. Jrue's cap hold is going to be around $16.5 million which will be much cheaper than any comparable PG you can sign. It also is a low enough figure that you're an Asik and filler dump away from adding a Gordon Hayward level player in addition to resigning Jrue. The only reason you don't resign Jrue other than health is if you're bringing back CP3.

This conversation is why I was hoping Dunn would fall. Oh well.

We can offer him more years and money than anyone else, and during the offseason while we're making other moves his cap hold on our books will only be about $16.5.

That's what I was (poorly) saying and the number I was looking for in my post, so thanks.

If Jrue stays healthy and plays as well as he did last season, he'll get the max or close to it. Hopefully, with his injury issues, giving him the same max/raises that any other team can give him + a 5th year at the same cost as the 4th year will be enough. I tried to find his numbers from last season, but I believe that his per 36 over his last ~30 games was around 21/8. His defense was less than expected, but he was really good previously and he's finally going to be getting perimeter help between Moore, Gallo, and Hill.
