Are we trying to corner the market for 7' white boys?

I am VERY worried about Green on the team....offensively he is a joke.

I didn't mind ditching Brackins as I wasn't in love with the pick in the first place....I'm sure Dell looks at these players MUCH harder than any of us do so I'm still optimistic about the season.

career .422 shooting % is a joke offensively? Yeah he is not a star but he is solid player who can give us like 8 points a game.

I have to think Demps knows what he's doing but Philly fans act like they just dumped their Juju.

Sixer fan here, don't really get this trade for you guys. Green is awful, he was an ongoing joke in Philly, it was puzzling that the guy has played 20+ min/game for the last few years. Smith has promise, but his injury history has held him back, he needs to put on 20 or so pounds if he wants to be an effective defender and rebounder. Nice mid range jumper though. No idea what to expect out of Brackins, but we could certainly use a young big.

All he did in Summer League was knock down 3s and one game he got Monty's foot up his arse because he's 6'10 but ended up with zero rebounds. He considers himself a stretch 4, he's not a banger now and I'm not sure he ever will be.

Jodie Meeks is our best 3 point shooter, so I'll take Brackins if he can knock down an open one every now and then. He sounds like he can be a nice compliment to Speights, who is more of a banger and low post guy.

So I never said anything because I wanted to be positive with the new changes, but I think Brackins is going to be a bust. He isn't going to help out in the post at all, and I didn't expect him to play much if at all this year.

Not sure what to make of this trade yet though.

What's with the Brackins love fest?

I'm windering the same thing. I was anxious to see what he would devolp out to be, but to be honest, I wasn't a big fan of his game during the summer league. I know it was just the summer league and he''s a rookie, but it was his skill set I was upset with, rather than his execution, which is something that is harder to change.

Not sure I get the Willie Green part of this trade. I guess Shakur isn't much of a back up point, that's the only way I can rationalize it. With Thorton/Bellini at the 2, I'm not sure Green will see much time there.

Everything I've read about Green has pretty much been negative, not a good sign.

Except for Demps' statement that makes it sound like Green's the lead piece in the deal.

quote:

“It is tough to trade Darius and Craig, but we believe both teams will benefit from this move,” said General Manager Dell Demps. “Willie is a combo-guard with versatility who can give us minutes at the back-up point guard spot and the shooting guard position. We are excited he is a part of our program and believe he can be an asset both offensively and defensively for us. Jason will have an opportunity to compete for minutes. He is a young, athletic big man with shooting ability and we are getting him at a good time of his career.”

Fair enough, I'll wait until I see him in action to pass judgement, I just have a feeling this trade doesn't bode well for Shakur. Also, I think Pargo is probably out of the question now too.

Green is a classic example of a player asked to shoulder too much of a load.

he's a bench player. He started a lot of games for Philly. He'll carve out a niche on this team, i like him.

john hollingerAlso, Willie Green has just 72 hours to find compromising photos of Hornets execs. Still my lead theory for why he played so much in Philly.

put me on the WTF side of this trade. songaila was nothing but solid for us and gave us good minutes of the bench. he wasn't a bad athlete for his size and did a little bit of everything.

i don't know much about jason smith but it sounds like what we get out of this is 14 ft of white fail and a turd while giving up a better than decent big man and rookie we gave up on before seeing in an actual game. ::

Jason Smith potential >>>>> Darius Songalia potential

Not a huge fan of Willie Green, but Brakins wasn't going to be doing much for us anyway, and atleast we got another pretty solid guard.

What you got was a big that can shoot, run and finish but hasn't done anything much the last 2 years because he was recovering from an ACL tear. ACL's seem to take about a year and a half to fully recover, so watch these Jason Smith rookie highlights and think about a 7 footer running with CP3. I think there's enough potential there to reserve judgement on the trade. Brackins wasn't going to contribute anything more than spot up jumpers this year if he even got the chance to do that.

I'm very surprised we just got rid of the Rookie but Demps has been making good moves so far so I'm gonna trust the front office and roll with it and see where it takes us.

I guess this is the last big move the FO is gonna make before the season starts?

Somebody posted one of Adrian Woj...'s tweets earlier in the thread saying Demps was still actively trying to move Peja, so I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Woj says Dell is trying to move Peja and some people are speculating that Green was acquired because Thornton will be part of a Carmelo deal, so who knows. The one common thread we are seeing is that Demps keeps bringing in guys that are long, athletic and can run.

Okay, I feel a bit better about Smith after seeing the highlight reel. He seems to have a nice touch, pretty quick hops, and the ability to get down the floor and finish. I know, I know...they call them "highlights" for a reason.
