Surprised they traded Brackins, but only cause he's a rookie and we haven't really seen what he can do with the team. The moves Demps have made seem solid so far, and I'm gonna wait until we see the team on the floor before I pass judgement on this deal

I didn't read every post in this thread so sorry if it has been mentioned, but I think some forget Demps was hired after the draft and wasn't responsible for picking Pondexter/Brackins

its not songaila for smith though. it's songailas expiring or willie greens expiring. they're basically saying they think smith has more potential than brackins. well see

Brackins already showed his softer side in Summer League where the only impressive thing he did was shoot 3s.

This, I think management knew they made a mistake after summer league, and wanted to bail. That is my take on this trade

Lots of chatter on hornets report saying this could be a setup move to bring in Carmello.

I guess Shakur isn't much of a back up point

the knock on Shakur has always been that he is a step slow for the NBA. otherwise, his skills are pretty good

I'm on a roller coaster of emotions, neutral on the trade, high on the trading Peja talk, and then pissed when I hear bullshite speculation from HR.

OK, just checked HR. They got the rumor from this link:

LINK /

quote:

Who says the Hornets can't hold onto Chris Paul?

If they land Anthony -- and convince him to stay after the season -- CP3 won't want to go anywhere when he can become a free agent the summer of 2012. The once-frustrated Paul is already singing a different tune than he was a few months ago, but it can't be forgotten how he shared his dream of playing with Anthony and Stoudemire in New York at Anthony's wedding this summer.

According to a source close to the Hornets, they have inquired about Anthony and what it might take to get him. And while New Orleans certainly doesn't t have the assets in terms of star-caliber young talent, they do have All-Star forward David West ($8.2 million this season, player option for $7.5 million next season) or small forward Trevor Ariza (four years and $28 million remaining) -- veterans who could help speed up the recovery process for Denver.

There's quantity and some quality on the young talent front as well, from second-year guard Marcus Thornton (expiring deal worth approximately $762,000) to swingman Quincy Pondexter (26th pick out of the University of Washington).

I wouldn't say Fanhouse is legit, but I don't think it's exactly Fletch Mackel either. Unless their source "close to the Hornets" IS Mackel.

If they want Ariza, West, and Thornton, I'd tell them to kiss my arse.

no way you can make a trade without having him agree to an extension first. west has to be part f the deal so:

west + arias + pejas expiring for melo and birdy

melo would never play here tho, too small of a market

I agree but CP3 and Melo on the same team will be like a bunch of attention whores. We would get sooooo much press and attention. It'll be like CLE with LeBron. Before LBJ, nobody gave two shits about CLE (not that they don't N.O. since we have CP) then when he arrived, they were on national TV at least once a week. New Orleans isn't New York and can't provide all the huge billboards, lights, traffic, and cluster frick of people, but isn't that a good thing sometimes? He'd fit in just fine and I think he'd be happy. I'm getting ahead of myself though, because it's not happening IMO.

Are you serious? Because of this trade? Brackins is an untested rookie with little post game and not good rebounding who wouldn't have seen more than 8 minutes a game.

Songalia is a worse version of David West, all he can do is hit spot up mid range shots.

This trade is not going to hurt the Hornets this season.

I agree with most of this.

In summer league, the most impressive aspect of brackens game was 3pt shooting which we don't need out of a pf
