Alexis Ajinca and Omer Asik are making a combined $14.6 million, have two guaranteed seasons left apiece and haven't played since Christmas.

I can't blame that on Demps. Even if it's just 10-12 minutes a night, Asik should see some time.

Especially when we've been bleeding rebounds.

Most damning stat for this season:

As per Bball Reference, Pels have less than 2% chance of making playoffs and yet less than 7% chance of winning the lottery.

pretty good rundown of the comedy of errors in NO front office.

LINK

lots of Demps/Loomis palace intrigue stuff there, but here's the money shot

quote:

Five years after David Stern deemed him the perfect fit, Tom Benson is no longer involved in the daily operations of the Pelicans. He travels with his wife to watch horse races—the couple invested in thoroughbreds in recent years—and leaves the basketball business to Loomis, a trusted deputy who admits to spending little energy on a struggling product.

re-reading this and this paragraph....

quote:

Feeling the heat, Demps, according to the source, convinced Loomis and Lauscha that he had the best shot at re-signing Davis and that a defense-first coach like Williams wasn't the answer in the new era of fast-paced offenses.

that Loomis/Benson may seriously have thought Demps was the best chance at Davis taking a max rookie extension (which no one has EVER turned down under any circumstances) is insane

Such a shitshow.

No one should blame AD when it comes time to go.

It's literally impossible to be excited with these idiots in charge. There's no light at the end of the tunnel.

Only 3 teams lost money last year, the Clippers, Cavs and OKC. Those 3 are paying a lot of taxes. So even the small market teams made money under the new league economics and that is before the new national TV money fully kicked in.

On top of that profitable environment, add the fact that Dell Demps has found a loophole in the system that the past 2 years allowed him to convert about $5-$6 million per year of player salary, normally a cost, into team revenue, and he might be in line for a promotion.

That's how motherfrickers do in the Benson Mafia: fail up.

I expect Loomis to be declared God Emperor pretty soon.
