7 years, 1 playoff appearance

He also fired his head coach after making that only playoff appearance.

Is Ferry a big enough change since he consulted on this mess?

Is JVG still one of the best available options if they fire everybody?

I have no clue what they do next. I don't care. Fire his arse.

Make Ferry the interim GM. If they keep losing fire Gentry's arse too.

Hire Coach Cal. Hire Travis Schlenk. frick I'm so desperate that Joe Dumars is looking good.

I don't care any more. I don't want to hear shite about injuries.

FYI this thread will never leave the front page this year unless he is fired or we are above .500.

Honestly back before Gentry I was Thibs/JVG or bust for many reasons but for one very important reason: They both have great organizational minds that if Demps proved doubters right, could allow Loomis and Co. to lean on either of those two to create a situation like in Minnesota. Building the organization cohesively from the coach on out. Which is kinda what I have felt this team needed to do given our weird ownership situation.

I just think at the end of the day Loomis is not a basketball mind. Since we put our loyalties heavily on general management, this team seems like they are stuck with either Demps or Ferry.....Or Dumars, but if they do that I will probably tap out.

Demps' move this offseason on their own weren't bad. Moore, Hill and Frazier all will hopefully be solid role players. The real problem is that's the best he could do based on where the team was because of Demps' previous moves. They went into the season with 2 full time starting caliber players. That's even worse than the time they went into the season with only 6 NBA caliber players.

Even if you can legitimately blame Loomis/Benson for a win now mandate, nobody made Demps sign Asik and Ajinca to those deals. We're talking about possibly having to burn assets to move those contracts. Don't resign Asik and maybe you can turn the Philly pick into a useful rotation player on a cheap deal instead of earmarking it to move a mistake that everyone but you immediately knew was a mistake. Demps has definitely made enough mistakes to get fired even if Holiday comes back and saves the season.

They fired Monty after reaching the alleged playoff mandate. Hopefully having Ferry in the circle of trust will make it easy. Although depending on how badly the season goes, AD might be the one that picks the next GM.

I'd prefer a "Give the Team to Someone Else Tom' thread

I'm not saying I want Dell to stay, but if Benson is still running shite and has control over the next GM, it will be the same story again.

You guys focus way too much on Demps and Gentry, IMO, because they are front and center. But until Benson is out of the picture, it simply won't matter. Where is the 'F*C! You, Tom Benson' thread?

The thing is I don't think Benson has anything to do with it. He's old and senile.

He has his surrogates Lauscha and Loomis as de facto owners. It is what is.

He's not selling. It will go to Gayle.

But Demps sure as shite can get fired. Presumably.

While Benson is also a problem, Demps had already proven himself incompetent before Benson bought the team. Monty did an admirable job of covering up how shitty the rosters were before he was fired. Gentry doesn't seem as capable.

And even if he were, having a team aim for the playoffs doesn't have to lead to a disaster of a roster. You could have still been aiming for the playoffs signing Biyombo instead of Asik, and I don't think anyone would have complained had they chosen Withey over Ajinca. Biyombo and Withey would have the center position covered adequately instead of us thinking not only do we need to burn assets to move the 2 guys we currently have, but we may need to use assets to replace those 2 guys.

Demps has repeatedly chosen poorly, especially when it comes to starting positions/players. Someone else could definitely have done better even with ticket sales as a factor in the equation.

The revisionist history here is hilarious. As recently as May 2015, Dell was a genius, as his shrewd moves for Cole and QPon got us into the playoffs.

Look, they probably all need to go, but Benson is the biggest problem. It won't matter until he goes

Feel free to go back and look at my post history in regards to Dell. Others may be new to disliking him, but I've been pretty outspoken about him being trash since the veto. The fact that he actually went to David Stern with that shite sandwich told me all I needed to know.

I'm sure others can vouch for my attitude towards Dell, as well.

Jester has been a Demps hater since the Lakers trade that got vetoed. Cole and QPon were good moves that worked out, but those are the only kind of moves Demps has proven to be regularly good at, getting end of rotation players for little or no cost. Ryno, RoLo and AD are the only starting caliber wins he has on his resume. He hasn't had a win with a move for a starting caliber player since 2012. It's not revisionist history, it's having the scales tip far enough out of balance that the things he's done well can't make up for the things he hasn't done well.

Then he turned the RoLo win into a loss when he traded him and another quality rotation player for Evans, thus necessitating the trade of a first rounder for Asik.

I also have a really hard time calling AD a win. That was the most foolproof situation a GM has ever found himself in.

I mean, the grim reaper is going to take care of that eventually but there is nothing we can do about it. Benson is the owner. That's not changing.

What CAN change is who is in charge of the team, ie basketball ops/GM.
