As usual, he is getting abused.

Lebron purposefully toyed with him. Literally called him out and did a little 2 step and drained a 3 in his face. Dudes a bust.

Then Irving drained a 3 in his face then Irving ripped him next possession and drew a foul on: led to a missed ft after a make and a Lebron and one. 4 points there. Plus the 2 threes. That's 10 points on rivers in less than 60 sec

Gonna be awkward as frick in the Rivers household when Doc doesn't re-sign him this offseason, and basically end Austin's career.

Austin Rivers: -18 in 12 minutes. 0 points, 0 rebounds, 1 assist

God I hope this just destroys the weak chemistry that team already had.

Oh. Oh, man. I feel bad about this one… OK, so after the Clips had a 9 point lead, (2:50 3rd), Austin played 5:16. they were outscored by 12

Rivers was -12 in 5:16 of the last 14:50 of the game. Negative 12 in less than 5.5 minutes.

I mean, Rivers played over 5 minutes and Redick played less than five in that final stretch.

Its the reverse of what happened when Chris Paul went to the Clippers. Everyone knew how good he was, but the national attention blew up.

Everyone knows Rivers is terrible, now he'll get to prove it on national tv. Pelicans fans saw this for 2+ years.

Reading twitter, I actually felt a little bad for the guy. He's not an NBA player and now he's been thrown into a WAY worse spot than he was in NOLA. Coached by his dad, in L.A., on a team looking to win a championship now. Its gonna be sooooooo bad. What people saw tonight was NOTHING compared to what they'll see if they actually try to give this guy playoff minutes in the West.

Literally looked like 95% of his games here.

That wasn't him struggling, thats who he is Doc.

This is why I feel terrible for him.

Unless he finds MJ's Secret Stuff from Space Jam, he is in a situation where he will assuredly lose, not just on a professional level, but also on a personal level now that his father's success/failure is directly tied to his success/failure.

You clearly forgot David Kahn in Minnesota, Michael Jordan in Washington, Billy King in NJ/Brooklyn, and Isaiah Thomas in New York. That's the Mount Rushmore. Everyone else is playing for honorable mention. Doc's nowhere near those guys.

I disagree. This isn't Jonathan Bender or Adam Morrison we're talking about. AR is tougher and can actually drop big numbers on the right night- we've seen it. He made the marked improvements a lottery pick should make from years 1 to 3. I'm not an AR apologist, but he is still only 22 and has plenty of time to grow into that Danny Green role he's destined for.

Doc destroyed their roster in one year. Give him time. If Ballmer doesn't fire GM Doc then you'll see what he's capable of

Trading for AR is setting himself up for disaster off the court as well. I just don't get it. Like broski said, gonna be real uncomfortable when Austin don't get that call in the offseason

I get the hate around here, but this board wants to blame everyone-

Demps is terrible GM and shouldn't have drafted him
Monty doesn't know how to develop him
Rivers just can't play

It's not all three.

Hollinger once wrote about they de facto secondary draft int the NBA, where rookie contract players who are in bad situations for them start getting eyeballed by other teams who then build them into different players.

He'll never an All-Star, but the guy works too hard and has a legitimate first step.

I don't think he's in a better situation now, because of the spotlight, but who knows where the kids winds up?

Guys like DJ Augustin and the aforementioned Green were on their way out of the league until good coaches picked them up and revived their careers.

If Thibs picked him up in Chicago next year, would you be surprised at all if he suddenly thrives?

What's your definition of thrive? I like Rivers, I really do. He tries hard and doesn't bitch. That does not make an NBA player though. He will hang around as an end of bench guy, but if he is getting significant minutes on the regular, it's for a bad team.
