Free Agency news: League sources say swingman Omri Casspi is about a week or so away from clearance and drawing interest from playoff teams.

Casspi suffered a bad-luck thumb injury in his New Orleans debut but sources say he is ahead of schedule and has multiple teams in pursuit.

So he is with the team for one day - immediately injured for season! Leaves team, heals quicker then expected...I guess our medical team does suck donkey balls!

That sucks. He is definitely someone who would be a solid free agent acquisition in the offseason.

I do feel the Pels must have the absolute worst team in the league.

He'll have a soft spot for us after we let him use our facility to work out in during his recovery

Cutting Casspi was a really fricking stupid move if the Pels decide to stay above the cap. Cutting him when they did was dumb regardless, because they could have always waived his cap hold in the off season if they wanted to operate below the cap and needed the room.

From Peltons Twitter

The players the Pelicans signed to fill Casspi's roster spot (Reggie Williams and Wayne Selden) have played a combined 79 minutes.

I didn't think we got Bird Rights for him.

It's actually zero minutes for Selden and only 16 in 1 game for Reggie Williams. The rest of those minutes are from earlier in the year when Reggie was a Pel.

I want to say in hindsight this looks like a mistake, but Reggie had trouble getting minutes the first time around so I'd say it was a mistake they should have seen coming. The only defense I can think of is that we're all wrong about them wanting to possibly keep Casspi next year. You're stuck with Hill and I can see them preferring Cunningham, so he may have never been in the long term plans.

Which is nuts. I mean, why WOULD the Pels want a tall wing who can hit 3s at a high rate?

And it contradicts what Verrier said on Duncan's pod about Gentry liking him and maybe talking Casspi into coming in the deal

Our leadership are morons. It all makes sense when you accept that as the truth.

Verrier said on Dunc'd On that the Pels talked about a Cunningham for Casspi swap with the Kings earlier in the season.

In that case this is pretty hard to spin any way other than
