Pre-injury STAT was a pretty damn good player. No, he isn't Davis, but you are not giving him the credit he deserves.

I don't understand why D'Antoni would be a nightmare, but Thibs supposedly some wet dream. Is Thibs not the defensive version of D'Antoni?

Bulls ORtg
2015 - 11th
2014 - 28th
2013 - 24th
2012 - 5th
2011 - 11th

Why do people hate D'Antoni for having middling defenses, but love Thibs despite his middling offenses?

No, the dream situation would be Thibs as the HC, and D'antoni as his top assistant/offensive coordinator.

To be fair to Dantoni, no one can fix the knicks. That team is a dumpster fire.

The team he had in LA was old and Injured.

He'd have more to work with here but he's def not not first choice.

If we exhaust all our options he'd probably be a decent hire. But I think we can do much better

Thibs has a ring. Thibs has overachieved every single season. including this one. thibs makes the playoffs every year. thibs' teams scare the shite out of everyone.

I guess you're right. Offense wins championships, not defense.

not well
shitty teams with shifty systems and shitty players
although in the brief amount if time he was able to run his system in New York, it worked

you've offered no evidence that dantoni would be a nightmare

from haberstroh
Suns ORtg + DRtg ranks under D'Antoni

The Pelicans need an offensive minded coach. We already have some great individual defensive players (Davis, Holiday, Asik).

Knicks don't count, they made even a competent coach like Larry Brown look bad. That organization is beyond inept.

I feel the exact opposite. Their offense is fine, they absolutely suck on the defensive end (for the talent that is on the team).

lol
Those teams were destined to fail

He made deep runs with those Phoenix team, which were full of young guys who dantoni helped develop. He took Nash's career to the next level. And while his team's were great offensively, people tend to forget they weren't half bad on D either. He shouldn't be scoffed at as a candidate

Because we have players that can flat out score with any coach, but can't play defense

Those numbers aren't bad

2013/14 DRose was hurt and he had tons of injuries elsewhere each year.

Pels have far more talent offensively, even if the offense goes down a bit,the defensive improvement would be well worth it.
