LOL it was a bit of a joke...
Ryno's name has come up separately with the Cavs and Warriors, if they miss out on Love... and now with the TWolves if they move Love... I just mixed the two, and added the contracts from the Cavs I think we'd be most likely to get in the deal. What is so hard to understand? Can you people name a player that it would be ok to take back?

Did you really just link a guy to his own article?

In all honesty it seems logical to trade ryno for a quality SF. This board doesn't want to part with him though, but IMO he doesn't fit this team and is a very good value.

What is our identity? We will have arguably the best defensive frontcourt in the league with the Asik addition and holiday and rivers are both solid defenders. Ryno for a solid SF defender that can score a few points would be ideal, although I have no clue who that particular player is. If we could get a similar value with a guy that can play some perimeter d I say we give it a look. Again, that player likely doesn't exist but it's fun to dream.

Say we keep our pick because of protections next year. Are we allowed to now trade that pick in anyway we want for next year? And then Houston would just have our pick for the following year? Just curious

the stipulations on what they would get if we keep the pick haven't been released yet. It usually has multiple year options, which would prevent us from trading away our 2016 1st until after it is resolved. If we keep the 2015 pick, sure we can trade it. We're probably gonna have to make the playoffs to keep it.

And that's the problem. The rumors of Ryno for Batum was the first Ryno trade that's piqued my interest. I think we're more likely to find our SF via FA or Asik style trade into cap space which means Gordon is the odd man out, not Ryno. I also disagree that he doesn't fit. You need the kind of versatility that we have in our 3 big rotation. San Antonio doesn't win the title without both Splitter and Diaw taking turns complimenting Duncan depending on the matchup.

No, it isn't our pick.

Yes. Say we're the 7th seed and pick #20, the 2015 pick is our pick to use as we see fit and we effectively owe our 2016 pick to Houston.

It would be if it fell in the protected range.

Couldn't trade it right now, but could after the season if it was in the protected range.

They didn't get some sort of descending value for that? That's disappointing for an expiring contract. Hope they convey #19 next year.

The moral of the story is that Sandy needs to opt out after this season. That would give ~10mil in cap space to put toward a SF.

I believe I read that the stipulations are 1-3, 20-30 protected for three seasons, then it turns into a second rd pick after that.

We just need a cheap Kawhi Leonard, a cheap Manu, and a cheap Tony Parker to play with Asik AD and Ryno and we'd become the poor man's spurs!

oh, and a greg popovich.

If next year's pick is ours because it's 1-3, there will be wholesale changes all over the place.

Much more likely that it falls in the 20-30 range than the 1-3 range IMO. We were decimated by injuries last season and still had the 10th pick.

Yeah, just have to hope that the injury bug doesn't strike again this year.

I think you're right. Don't forget that last season there were at least 4 teams that starting tanking at mid-season to get into the Wiggins sweepstakes. That #10 spot is actually worse than it looks like.
