Rumor that the Timberwolves might be interested in Anderson if/when Love is traded.

They can be as interested as they want but they aren't getting him.

could we be the third team involved with the trade with Cavs?

Pelicans, TWolves, Cavs

Pelicans receive:
SF, Anthony Bennett
PF, Tristan Thompson

TWolves receive:
PF, Ryan Anderson
SG, Dion Waiters

Cavs receive:
PF, Kevin Love
SG, Austin Rivers

would you rather Tristan Thompson and Chase Budinger/ Corey Brewer? giving up Ryno and Rivers? that would probably be more likely in a 3-way

now i'm starting to get nervous this might happen...

Ryno, Waiters, Bennett to Minnesota might be enough for them to give up Love to CLE

better than waiving Austin right? Tristan is a solid 12/10 traditional PF...

Stop with this foolishness. The trade makes no sense and will never happen. We aren't trading one of the best players on our team for an inferior PF and an overpaid bust. Also, Rivers is not getting waived.

BSS actually released a decent article about hopes and expectations last night BSS article

We'd have to be blown away to give up Ryan this season, but it is going to happen one way or another before his contract is up. We won't be able to keep him after 2015/16 when they demolish this CBA and salary cap, he'll be out of our price range in a hurry. Hell, we might not be able to afford him next year if Asik wants to stay and EG exercises his option. I could see Monty looking for a contract like Bennett's with 3 years left on it, and a quick flip asset like Tristan to move later in the season for picks. Of course we all wish the return would be better, but I'd rather those guys than Chase Budinger.

Just look at the contracts on our books: Pelicans Spotrac
Right now we can't seem to break up the logjam at SG. There is no indication we'll get any relief next year either. If we can get max value for Ryan and Austin... take it and run... our long term plan is Jrue/AD/Reke... maybe Asik... sadly, not Ryno.

Max value that makes sense is more like the Ryno for Batum in a 3way for Monroe rumors. If Ryno's involved in the Love trade we better be getting Wiggins or LeBron back.

Odd idea - how about we keep him? Why trade him for the Cavs castoffs? I think some just want a trade, regardless of how it damages the team.

Can I be any more clear? it's not about this season. Did we give up our 1st and do all that moving just to get Asik for 1 season? I doubt it. Will EG leave next season and not exercise his option? No way to know! Can we afford Asik and Ryno and EG next year? NO!

We can either deal with this now, if an offer is great, or next offseason when we know more about EG... If we did it now, we need a contract coming off the books next season to the tune of 5+ million so we can afford to resign Asik. See one on our team? Nope. I said Tristan Thompson, because his contract would do that, or he's tradeable. Could be anyone.

Actually we can. It really all depends on what we need at SF. If Asik and Davis are dominant enough defensively that what we need most at SF is shooting, we can use the MLE to get a guy like Dunleavy. If we need a $10+ million SF we probably need to move Gordon, and if the Core 4 + Asik look like they work well together I'd have no problem trading the 2016 pick on draft night to move him ahead of FA. I know some of you just threw up in your mouths a bit at the prospect of trading away another pick, but if the Core 4 + Asik work out then Ryno + a top FA SF is more valuable than a pick in the teens or 20s.

The argument for 1st round picks increasing in value came out at a time when it looked like the cap was stagnating and salaries were declining. We're back in fantasy land again so needing solid role players on cheap deals isn't as important. And solid role players on cheap deals are also the kind of guys Demps is good at finding for next to nothing.

Why in the hell would we part with Ryno and Rivers for trash.

Dumb idea is dumb.

If Demps does that trade, someone who has any feelings for the man should have him committed for psychological evaluation.
