something else to think about- the new timeout rules and how they affect rotations.

no more after 9 timeouts look like it will be tougher on the player to play big minutes than it has been in the past, which could be an issue for a team as top heavy as the Pels

I'm highly skeptical this can work but I am hoping for the best.

As others have said we really need to see internal improvement on players shooting efficiency for this to have a chance of working. IF Jrue can keep that ~40% going from three and Hill can be counted on to hit 1-2 threes a game on better efficiency(not hit 5 one game and go 4-24 the next several games). And Cousins and AD can be a bit more efficient from the perimeter. AND Rondo buys in and starts playing D again.

All that happens and you have a pretty impressive team. Great defensive potential and the issues of spacing will be a non-issue.

Thank god Reggie Jackson isn't on this team.

not sure you can play 3 different schemes w/o it being a disaster. they'll have different looks, but there have to be common principles on both offense and defense for all 48 minutes.

definitely think they need to go w/ Jrue+Davis and Rondo+Boogie stagger/bench anchors.

Shouldn't have used "schemes". 3 very different looks/variations is better description. I think there will be common offensive principles (strings of pick and rolls all over with lots of movement and defensive scheme will be mostly the same), but pace should vary a good bit with personnel. Small ball will focus on transition offense and AD/Jrue PNR while Cousins/Rondo will rely more on slower paced half court sets and getting the ball to Boogie in the post more. Rondo will be given free reign to improvise/get creative when he is on the floor.

Starting/finishing is going to be very interesting to see what they do offensively.

Regarding that last bit about Rondo telling teammates what to do, one of the TBW guys pointed out this play highlight on twitter where Rondo, who is notorious for his film work, knows exactly what play Atlanta is going to run and he sends Boogie to what appears like the middle of nowhere to guard nobody, but it's exactly where Atlanta wants to inbound the ball and because Boogie is there the play is blown up.

I just got a tingling feeling down under

I think it was pretty obvious that this is what they were thinking when they signed Rondo. I like it, I just hope they stagger them, so that one of Holiday or Rondo are on the court at all times.

As corn said, bench lineups with Holiday/Davis and Rondo/Cousins are interesting, surrounding them with Hill/Cunningham at the big positions and Moore/Miller/Crawford at the wing positions.

Yup. I guarantee they will start together, and then Rondo and Boogie will sit first.

Then after Jrue and AD get their first break, Rondo and Boogie will come back in to lead the second unit.

Our rotation will be much better with Rondo in charge when the second unit is out there.

Also, Jrue starting the games off ball is a good idea. He excelled there the season before last season off the bench, and scored 16 ppg in less than 30 minutes, which was a per 36 of 21ppg. Start him at SG, rotate him to PG when Rondo sits.

That is not happening. Hill is the starting SF. He is widely credited as being the key to the defensive improvements and a lockerroom leader. Him and AD have supposedly been working on nothing but perimeter shooting and ball handling all summer.
this. We will be so much better this year if Hill has a good, consistent year.
