Which is a lot next year but in the following years it's basically like what 4.5 million is now. So get used to seeing stupid contracts like this.

For a time, but the money will dry up eventually. We were never getting in on the first or 2nd round of FAs anyway. Although I'm a little surprised to see Aminu one of the first to go off the board.

Agreed, not enough cash to pay every AFA guy 7.5 mil per.

Yeah. We are going to wait for those few good players that for whatever reason just fall through the cracks. Happens every year.

Tried to update Aminu's salary on NBA 2K and the CPU just laughed at me. Then gave me an error message

I honestly doubt there will be a lockout.

Yup. If anything, it makes sense to overpay now. Aminu at 7.5 with a cap around $110M in 2 years is a very good deal.

ETA: of course it does set the market, like others have said. "He got how much? Then I'm definitely worth ...... "

That's what people are missing. This isn't an overpay or raising the bar, it's an indication of the new market.

We wait. I'm sure Jae Crowder, Corey Brewer, DeMarree Carroll, etc. will all point to Aminu's deal when saying how much they deserve, but eventually the money runs out and there aren't any more teams with cap space to show your awesome comps to. If there were lots of teams visiting with Asik making us have to move early, then you'd worry more about the overpay, but for now we do what Minny did with Pekovic and hope nobody comes knocking.

Every year's a new market, that doesn't mean in the context of history he didn't get overpaid. Him getting more than the MLE is kind of stunning to me. Perhaps MM was right and the MLE will be worth much less than it had been in the past.

Also, the cap is not going to rise forever, in fact the projections are for it to rise 2 years and then retract a bit, $89 -> $108 -> $100. That shrinking cap year is going to be rough on players as teams spending like drunken sailors for 3 straight years have to reign it in all of a sudden.

I think Aminu will prove he's worth it. He's improved every year in the league and he's great in the fast break.

The only reason everyone hates him is because he's not a shooter.
