Holiday's playing well, Evans as expected, Gordon's becoming an inefficient chucker.

I was going to say that I'm completely happy if Tyreke doesn't take another jump shot this season.

Jrue's been much better, certainly quieted down the "bad trade" talks around here. He seems to be very clutch as well. EG is getting frustrating. If he were a superstar, he'd get a lot more calls when he drives. He shot right at 45% all 3 years with the Clips but the last 2 years (60 games so far) he's still hovering below 41%. I think he's playing hard and good D. I thought he should have taken the shot last night, he had a good look. Play may have been drawn up for Ryno but EG had a look.

Agree with everything you said. EG has simply been inefficient this year. His effort isn't questionable, at times, like in previous years, thankfully.

I feel like the first half of last night is exactly how I want to see each of the three play. Jrue wasn't taking mid range jumpers early in the shot clock. He was attacking Calderon and abusing him, as he should. Tyreke wasn't settling for pull-ups. He wasn't converting his drives, but he was attacking. Eric wasn't settling for a step back jumper.

I'm sure the theme of that statement was clear. We work better when we don't settle for those shots. Lovers of the mid range please don't think I'm condemning the shot. It's just a shot that I feel all three can get at any time. I'd rather they probe the defense and if they can get easier shot before they settle for a mid range jumper.

As a mid-range shot activist (in that I don't want it to go the way of the dinosaur), I can confidently say that I agree with this post. Oh, and not running plays that seem formed around just getting a J-Smoove 17-footer, that's nice, too...

That kickbak to Smith at the elbows is a shot that used to be one of my favorites. We would use it the way you use any mismatch advantage... If the clock is running low, you can usually catch the 5 not marking Smiht with the quickness, and he would nail that 5-6 times a game, shooting it at least at 70%. But earlier this season it seemed like we were running plays around that shot 5-6 times a QUARTER!

Jrue's length and quickness for his position are a great mismatch to use on guys like Calderon. We just have to get better at adapting our game plans night-by-night so our advantages are maximized and our deficiencies minimized.

I think last night we did that. Way to go, Monty. You've proved me wrong in not handicapping the team, for the most part. Now let us see what you've been hiding in Withey and Rivers...

If Gordon keeps his steals above his TO's, I'll take it.

Jrue Holiday has been really good lately, too bad a lot of the idiots here already made up their minds to hate him.

I'll admit that I was hard on Holiday at the beginning of the season, but he has turned it since the return of Ryno. I looked at some stats from a few games ago and his shot selection has gotten a lot better. At the beginning of the season 42 percent of his shots were mid-range jumpers, he was down to 28 percent as a few days ago and is probably even lower now.

17/9/5 is pretty damn solid for a starting PG that also plays defense

15/4/5/2 off the bench is really nice (although it feels like Reke should have more than 4 assists a game...)

I'm really happy with Holiday and Tyreke

Gordon needs to get that shooting percentage up

Gordon just can't finish at the rim. Numbers are much better if he gets to even 57% from there.

A few other links, this is as good a spot to drop them.

First Goldsberry has a great article on the Heat offense that has more than some relevance to NOPE

NBA's Most Highly Evolved Offense

Ziller on new Nowitzkis- featuring Anderson, Love, Aldridge

The Stretch 4 Spectrum

And lastly a proposed trade from Matt Moore's HP twitter account:

Indy gets Gordon, Greg.Smith

Houston gets Granger, Solomon Hill, Withey

NOPE gets Asik, Motiejunas

People don't realize jrue is actually playing better (a little bit) than he was in philly. They etched the first 5 games into their brains.

last year:
37:30 mins
17.7ppg
43.1 fg%
8.0 ast
4.2 reb
3.7 TO

this year:
34:27
15.1ppg
44.3 fg% (2 less shots)
8.1 ast
4.3 reb
3.3 TO

Maybe. He'd certainly make us better on the defensive end. But doesn't his contract blow the frick up next year?

Well this is certainly eye-opening. He seemed better in Philly for some reason, but I can't put my finger on it.
