While I agree Jason Isbell is a fantastic song writer, 95% of the general public have no idea who he is.

He doesn't shite out better songs I would guarantee they both have respect for one another.

John Mayer is an extreme talent.

Great singer/songwriter and guitarist.

Yes best of the millennial generation.

Yeah, so he won't be remembered as the best. I'm not debating who's better. I'm asking, will Mayer be REMEMBERED AS THE BEST?

You're absolutely right. He is a phenomenal guitar player and it would be hard to pick the best songwriter of the genration, but you have to be trolling to call him a terrible songwriter.

No.

And John Mayer was born in 1976. He's not a millennial.

So I guess that counts out Isbell and Adams too?

I kinda meant artists who became big in the music scene during the millennials time mid 80's-2000

I freakin love Ryan Adams, but he peaked. I'm not sure if John Mayer has peaked yet. Adams new cd is not good, plain and simple. IMO JM hasn't released a subpar album.

ETA and don't apologize, I'm looking for discourse. The most anyone has said is "is this a joke" with nothing really to say otherwise. Just wanting to be heard.

If you cannot say something nice about someone, don't say anything at all. Therefore, I will echo:

Isbell and Joe Pug are two that I think have a legit claim.

I like some of his solos stuff, but the John Mayer Trio album is easily his best stuff.
