It reminds me of this time me and Demi Moore hooked up but then my best friend had me killed so I came back as a ghost and killed him and my murderer with the help of Whoopi Goldberg and then ascended in to heaven.

And this is why we can't have anything nice.

Righteous Brothers - Unchained Melody. Always loved it.

Both my lady and I saw the movie "Ghost". The movie used the song very effectively, but that had no bearing on the fact that this song is an all time great.

It is an all time great. Bill Medley low, Bob Hatfield high. If that song doesn't move you, you are just as much dead as in "Ghost". IMO.

I remember as a kid the local oldies station did a count down of the 100 greatest songs of all time and had this #1. Might have been around 1999-2000. :CSB:

Do really like the song

I remember around the turn of the century (2000) every radio station in America was doing some form of "top 100 songs of the 1900s"...one in particular had Unchained Melody as the number one song of the era, and said it was the most often played song in radio history.

I don't know if that last part can be verified, but it is a fantastic damn tune.

Side note: Will Ferrel's dad used to be a drummer for the Righteous Brothers.

It's a good tune, but I can never listen to it again after my drunk mother-in-law announced that the song turned her on.

My buddy and I sang that one at a high school talent show in 99. We KILLED it and I remember the crowd going bonkers when my dumbass best friend hit the high note at the end. Good times.

Was our senior prom song. We got a petition going for Stairway to Heaven but school wasn't having it.

Pretty sure it's only Bobby Hatfield.

"You've Lost That Loving Feeling" on the other hand is a perfect representation of them both.

Unchained Melody is one of those songs every singer tried to cover at some point in their career.

I was reading a quirky blog one day and they dropped this version and I was blown away. LINK

Partly because of the youth of singer but also because it's a grat version that should be in a movie.

Here's the backstory of the singer, Merigail Moreland, and how this fellow tracked down who the unknown was who he heard on a flea market tape he's bought. Fascinating. PART ONE PART TWO

It is the definitive version . It was a hit many years before the movie Ghost came out.

Awesome song that never gets old.

Another version that many on here may not have heard but is pretty damn good is by Heart live from 1980. Was released on a Greatest Hits Live album. I had the vinyl back in the early 80's. Haven't heard this version in decades until tonight.
