so the "stay with me" song was a rip off of Tom petty?

Apparently this song was determined to be a direct rip of Pettys I won't back down. Now petty will be getting paid for this crappy pop song kind of like the stones did for bittersweet sypmhony

I still think The Black Keyes ripped off of "Last Dance With Mary Jane" and "Kiss From a Rose" to make "Little Black Submarines". Still an awesome song, though.

Yep, and their opening track of turn blue rips off breathe by Floyd pretty badly. However, they are pretty up front about their influences in general so you can't be too hard on them

Glad this is being recognized. This song has gotten all sorts of play and it's the very first thing I thought when I heard it. It's pretty obvious.
Also, it's not the Faces- that song was decades before- sorry if that was the joke & I missed it.

Arg, get off my lawn! Just because a song is old doesn't make it better. As a big Tom Petty fan, I can honestly say this song shits on Won't Back Down.

Yeh, but thats kinda the point. Its not a heavily melody based song IMO. He's basically singing one note per chord on a very simple chord progression.
