Springsteen??????????????????????????

one of the top 5 most ridiculous claims on this board...

I dont think he is revered for his guitar playing, more his songwriting and legendary live shows...

Now the E Street Band was ripped and all were/are probably underrated musicians..

I don't particularly like Springsteen, but can't in good conscious call him overrated.

there you go... just because you don't like a particular band/performer, does not mean they are overrated..

I dont care for the Grateful Dead, but wouldn't be as daft as to call them overrated

I think you need to read his post again.

I think the individual musicians in Pink Floyd are largely overrated.

Kurt Cobain. I like Nirvana as well as Kurt, but I think he is constantly overrated by all the major music critics. Especially as a guitar player.

I like obscure bands, and hate when they get extremely popular...

And condescending attitudes are on every board...

So you only listen to bands until they are successful. That's a cynical horse shite attitude.

I think he may be referring to the fact that a lot of bands seem to lose their individuality and creativity when they hit the big time. It becomes more about the image and the money than the music. That is often to the detriment of their legacies.

It is a subjective semantic argument. Every band's style evolves. Doing and sounding the same just makes you stale and boring. If you only like certain albums from a band then just listen to those but dont be mad if they just dont continue to remake the same sound
