You are right. Closer to 15 years rather than 20. Its better than any Tribe album and Blackstarr. Its at least as good as Ready To Die. I would say its close to the level of Illmatic.

I've noticed that people that are just getting into K. Dot will either listen to Section 80 first or a couple of songs off of Section 80. Wrong way to try to get into him IMO.

but anyway, people should really start off with The Kendrick Lamar EP, then Overly Dedicated, then Section 80.

I wouldn't say that it was one of the best albums in the past 20 years but it is definitely one of the better within the past 5!

It reminds me of the older great hip-hop albums, because the entire album tells a story from the album cover to the songs with the stories in between the songs to really narrate the story. That is something that these recent albums have been lacking.

Has anyone heard the heart part 3 yet that was released earlier today? It also features Ab-Soul and Jay Rock. They absolutely murdered that track!

The Heart Pt. 3

Let me know if that link doesn't work because I'm posting from my cell phone. If not, I'll get on my computer and link it.

I listened to GKMC last night, and all I can say is WOW!! I'm 34, so I don't throw around the word classic like some people do. I've been listening to Hip Hop a long time, and have heard some great albums, Ready to Die, Riding Dirty, Atliens, Only built 4 cuban linx to mention a few. However, there are only a handful of albums that actually make you feel as if you sitting right next to the artist as he/she tell their story. It Usually takes me 2 or 3 listens to decide if a like an album or not, not the case with GKMC. It's a classic, hands down.

Hell I might even buy the CD

If you but the album through iTunes, you get "Collect Calls" as a bonus track.

If you buy through Spotify, you get a Black Hippy Remix of "The Recipe"

If you buy the deluxe edition at Target, you get two bonus songs, "County Building Blues" and the Black Hippy Remix of "Swimming Pools"

For those that may not have heard these yet, hese are all of the bonus songs listed above (except for BH Recipe Remix which isn't out yet) plus songs that came out before and after #Section.80 that either didn't make it or the album.

Country Building

Swimming Pools (Remix) (Feat. Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, and ScHoolboy Q)

Collect Calls

The Heart Pt. 3 (Feat. Jay Rock & Ab-Soul)

Westside, Right On Time (Feat. Young Jeezy)

Cartoon & Cereal (Feat. Gunplay)

Sex With Society

Look Out For Detox

ETA:

The Recipe (Remix) (Feat. Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, & Jay Rock)
