Queens of the Stone Age Dave Grohl is without a doubt influenced by Foo Fighters Dave Grohl.

you realize that grohl played on TWO albums of theirs right? songs for the deaf and like clockwork. he was with the band touring for less than a year.

he's a great drummer but so is homme and homme wrote all of the drum parts so i'm not sure what your point is

Ok, then consider Them Crooked Vultures. I think his point is that Grohl is in those bands and has to be influenced by himself. Seems like a joke.

Josh Homme is everything that Dave Grohl desperately tries to emulate. He's just not authentic.

There's no doubt about it.

Grohl probably wishes the Paris shootings were at a Foo Fighters show so that he could suck in more of the spotlight.

Audioslave's music is infinitely more entertaining, but it's cooler to like the original stuff. Don't be that guy man that's a fan of a band that has Chris Cornell and Tom Morello in it.

Agree with the OP.

I like the first Foo Fighters album--it almost sounds a little shoegaze influenced.

Other than that, aside from a few tracks (can't really hate on Everlong), I find them very uninteresting. I really don't understand how someone could like Foo Fighters more than Nirvana.

When I read this thread earlier this morning I did not expect to see this many people supporting the Foo Fighters. Honestly thought they were just a running joke like Nickelback or The Disco Biscuits.

I didn't know they were well-loved either I thought they were one of those bands that are used for commercials, big events, etc. for being "safe".

Interesting fact: all of the band members require their girls to all use the same safe word.
Comraderie-builder It's an inside joke for that group of players

I don't think they do. One just has been around for 20 years while Nirvana was only nationally relevant for 3-4 years. They of course remained relevant after Cobain's death, but they weren't recording new music.

I don't get the Foo Fighter hate? Old people are usually safe?

Do you expect Grohl to bite the head off of a bat onstage? They aren't 25. They have mellowed. We all do. Rage Against the Machine doesn't rage anymore. At least Morello doesn't. That fricking singer does I believe.

People have to realize that artists are going to put out their most relevant shite in their 20-30's. After that you may have glimpses and spots of greatness. People say Bowie's last album was great? He was near death and near 70. But people are still gonna go back to Ziggy Stardust.

I don't think they do.
I do. I can remember driving around the LSU lakes when I first head SLTS in KLSU. It was the most amazing first listen in my entire life. I bought the album on day 1 of release. I still think it's an amazing song.

On the other hand, nothing else was ever better than mediocre for me. Covers are always listed in their best 5 by people. For me Foo Fighters has a better over all catalogue.
