Soundgarden? Chris Cornell now?

Big fan of Chris Cornell here, but I liked him better in Audioslave than Soundgarden.

Why the hell does age mean anything? Jesus! Bowie just put out an amazing album in his late 60's, so l

Not possible. When regarding the OP. He was asking as though the Foo Fighters are the greatest going right now according to some that he disagrees with. I disagree too. To be the greatest going means you are still relevant with the young, and still putting out your best stuff. Grohl and Foo Fighters are not.

You bring up Bowie. His last album may have been great, but it can't be his greatest. And there's no way a 70 year old singing about mortality speaks to 17-24 year olds. Age has to go in the discussion.

Yep. Never would have guessed that that Soundgarden wail and scream would become one of the most pleasing singers to my ear as he got older.

That would be awesome. Radiohead actually possess creativity and imagination and have been/are willing to experiment with different sounds/genres.
I love Radiohead. Best indicator band ever. If you like anything other than Creep, you have terrible taste in music. They suck that bad.

Let's bounce around a bit. Soundgarden?

soundgarden was one of the best "grunge" bands but mainly because they were so influenced by sabbath.

Haha nice.

I don't hate Radiohead, but I don't enjoy Radiohead. Radiohead has been a popular band my entire life and I've never been a part of anything fun where Radiohead was being played. Good things in life don't really happen to a whining Thom Yorke soundtrack.

I like about a half dozen Foo Fighters songs, about on par with most bands. Groups like the Foo Fighters have a hard time maintaining an appeal with me after more than a couple albums because all songs start to sound alike. I imagine it's difficult to maintain creativity after a while.

He reminds me of the singing Prince in the Holy Grail.

I'll agree later stuff is too 38 special-esque for my taste, but first too foo records were very good. Colour & Shape is a big album, Everlong is a defining song to its genre/era IMO. After that, pretty generic. Nothing about Foo Fighters will ever be in the same discussion as Nirvana, Dave is not Kurt. He played drums for Kurt.

Album after album, give me AIC or STP for the genre.

The musical equivalent of Mitt Romney; bland, boring, vanilla, soul-less, and safe milquetoast. Grohl should have been the Nirvana member to die.

Some of my favorites after Colour and Shape:

Pretender
All My Life
Best of You
Walk
Something From Nothing

Im not really a fan of the FFs, but I'd much rather see them live over RH... The latter's output over the past 20 years is so boring...

I agree the FFs are kinda generic rock, that doesn't excite me at all... but there is so much worse out there..

agree 100%
listen to what you want but at least find something interesting and challenging. Foo fighters are neither

Challenging? What exactly are you trying to get out of the music you listen to?

Nope. Queens of the Stone Age Dave Grohl is without a doubt influenced by Foo Fighters Dave Grohl.

With that being said, add Them Crooked Vultures to the list.
