Voodoo Fest 2000 was one of the greatest days of my life.

Eminem, 311, STP on back to back to back at the same stage.

I never really figured out what Grunge, or the "Seattle Sound" really was. Those groups were very different. I think the seriousness or darkness of some of the lyrics set it apart from other popular bands of the day. I guess to me it was more a mood or tone the music set rather than a sound.

I always kind of looked at it as the less musicianship is required to make the music, the more grunge it is. Nirvana were by far the worst musicians in that genre and are the epitome of a grunge band. Then you have bands like Alice In Chains and Candlebox that have incredible musicianship in alot of their music. I mean AIC has so many harmonies, different textures, heavy arse riffs, very high production value on their records whereas Nirvana has none of that. I think that makes it easier to identify what grunge is when you look at it in that perspective. Listen to "Dam That River" then listen to "Smell Likes Teen Spirit" and it's a very defined difference in quality. Ive always identified AIC as metal/hard rock anyway.

Just because they don´t like STP?

Anyway, they bombed (as did many others who were sourced and touted as the new Nirvana). Seattle became a mine for new talent (and what was there was quite diverse and therefore, not always what the people want/wanted)and record labels descended upon the city and signed left, right, center, everyone who had a pulse (they simply had to prove their Seattle pedigree).

Kind of like Ohio (especially Akron), with the Lene Lovich, Chrissy Hynde/Pretenders, DEVO, Waitresses, etc...., and the mad scramble around Athens, GA post B52s breakout.....

Scott Weiland doesn't have to conform to your standards, so back off and appreciate his art.

They had a unique sound for sure.

What? They were a blatant rip off of Pearl Jam initially.

I dig the unplugged version of Plush, but my favorite song by them is Interstate Love Song.

I wish Scott Weiland would get his act together. STP isn't the same without him, and he's not the same without the rest of STP.

I agree.

No. That was either too much prescription medication, heroin or he has brain damage from drug abuse. He couldn't even sing.

Slow motion Layne Staley, it appears. Sad.

I enjoyed the hell out of that show they did at the River Center a few years ago. Back before Weiland went off the deep end again.

I remember thinking that he kind of resembled Bryan Cranston.

I thought their first three albums were their best. Got to see them at their peak in the 90's, but surprisingly, the show left me a little disappointed. Maybe it was just an off night for the band, it happens...

"Out of Time" is the best single STP has ever done, and i never would have believed that would be the case.
