I would have loved to see them in their prime - but I was about 5 at the time

Songs from the Vatican Gift Shop is their best album, but Big Empty and Unglued from Purple are my favorite songs.

I wish Scott Weiland would get his act together. STP isn't the same without him, and he's not the same without the rest of STP.

Unglued is great music for a hyper workout at home.

I bet they were great. My neighbors are probably going to call the police - I'm blasting STP (Unglued right this second)as I post. The music room is pretty sound insulated (I hope sufficiently).

Same...though my distaste is still warranted because of their stupid name.

....but good stuff, though.

Scott Weiland doesn't have to conform to your standards, so back off and appreciate his art.

These revisionist 90s/Grunge threads kill me.

Most people weren´t even born then, yet go on and on about the best band of the eras and how much Nirvana sucked, but don´t realize all the highly considered bands were nobodies/nada/zilch on the radar screen then (and Nirvana was the summum).

Yep.

I wasn't ever a huge Nirvana fan. It was Pearl Jam who caught my attention at first, but I realize how large an affect Nirvana had on music at that time.

What?

You didn't actually list their best album.

Core is their best album imo, but you can't go wrong with any of their first four releases. Weiland was a great front man in his day. I saw him last year on his solo tour and he was pretty good. He nailed the Velvet Revolver tracks.

And that crap today with Chester from Linkin Park is NOT the Stone Temple Pilots. No Weiland = No STP.

They had a unique sound for sure. I think Weiland, at least for a time, was the best front man in rock music before he went off the deep end with drugs.

Scott is an awesome idiot. He needs drugs though, to make that good music. As much as any of the best/worst of them.

No doubt. I never identified them as grunge (my personal thang, of course). Never.

I never really figured out what Grunge, or the "Seattle Sound" really was. Those groups were very different. I think the seriousness or darkness of some of the lyrics set it apart from other popular bands of the day. I guess to me it was more a mood or tone the music set rather than a sound.
