How often do you listen to a whole album as opposed to listening to a playlist?

Are you a full album person or more of a playlist type of person?

Lately I've been trying to listen to whole albums more often and its been fantastic.

Playlist I guess except that my playlist contains everything I have. I just put the phone or iPod on shuffle and it's like having my own personal radio station where the phrase "heavy rotation" doesn't exist.

See, I'm trying to break away from this.

Dedicate a whole week to digesting whole albums from your favorite artist and you will come away with a greater appreciation for the music.

Never, and may never ever again since I basically just use my phone or Sirius as a source.

All the time when I'm driving to and from the mountains. I have lots of albums on my phone.

Albums. I set my iPod up to play strictly albums. I use Pandora when I want to listen on shuffle. Albums provide more to the experience than a playlist ever could.

Yeah I don't disagree with that. Most of what I listen to I have at one time or another given a critical listen all the way through. But most of my listening is in the car on relatively short trips and I sort of get a kick out of not knowing what song is coming next.

Occasionally I'll shuffle entire albums rather than individual songs.

I wouldn't own hundreds of CDs and vinyl records if I didn't have a love for complete pieces of art.

I could have saved myself hundreds of dollars if all I was concerned with was singles.

I might not necessarily listen to an entire album during a single sitting, but I'll bring a handful of CDs with me anytime I drive. Between my commute to school or work, it usually takes a couple of days to finish an album. But I'll routinely listen to entire albums while on my computer.

anytime i'm driving far enough to listen to an entire album.

if I'm driving far enough, I'll listen to several from the same artists in order of release.

Houma to Houston is almost the exact right time/distance to listen to Led Zeppellin's first 6 albums (I - Physical Graffiti)

this.

I still walk into music stores and browse around to buy my music.
I recently received an iTunes gift card that I still haven't spent because it's not like chasing music down a rabbit hole in the stores.

I usually do 3-6 albums a day at work. In the car, it is either playlists or podcasts. At home, it is a mix.

I almost always listen to complete albums. I've always considered the album a complete work created by the musician and I just enjoy the music better that way.

Hearing album tracks out of context with the rest of the album doesn't usually appeal to me. Probably why I have very few Greatest Hits albums.

I'll only listen to a playlist when at the gym, where I need continuous high energy music.

This.

Or when I'm in a vehicle with someone. Recently I made a trip to pick someone up and had Iced Earth - Night of the Stormrider on. Don't think many of my friends would like listening to that

I've always been an album person but as I've been listening to more music on youtube lately I've become more of a playlist person.

Playlist until I find a new album to obsess over. Then it's album for a week or two and back to playlist.
