re: How often do you listen to a whole album as opposed to listening to a playlist?

My favorite way to listen to music is to put on a vinyl and let it play through. I like albums.
Was also cool to hear Sturgill Simpson do an entire album in order. It really makes you appreciate the music much more.

I typically stream albums. That's the way it should be. A good album sets up songs in a certain order. Plus you grow to like songs that you'd probably skip through early in owning an album or just previewing on an online store.

I've made a concerted effort to listen to entire albums in the last year. I really like it better than listening to playlists all the time.
Spotify is great for this.

Albums all day every day. I'm stuck in the ways of listening to an album at a time(although sometimes it takes multiple sessions to get through an album). When I was younger the only way to hear the deep cuts(Non singles) was to listen to the whole album. It's also the way the artist wants you to experience the music.

Every time. I want to listen to a specific sound based on my mood, so I stick with one artist. I can't stand when people jump around genres

I'm a pretty big Tom Petty fan, probably have 40 or so of his songs on my phone. Ever since his Sirius XM channel came out, I've heard a lot of live tracks. Bought his live anthology albums which is 4 albums made up of entirely live performances from 1976-2006. Tons of his hits, album tracks, and covers. The covers are amazing. I have put that album on and just let it go without skipping several times. I love it.

If I'm on my ipod in the car I typically skip around to a degree and will listen to a whole album if I'm feeling it.
Recently though I've been upping my vinyl collection and upgrading my table and have been listening to full albums a lot more.

I give equal time to both. But if I want to just play some good random music for a long jag, I went through and rated all my favorite songs and that way I just go to the "My Top Rated" playlist and it runs about 4 hours of that. It's more or less like listening to a radio station that plays nothing but songs I love.
