You can trace it back even further to Jim Reeves in the '50s

Im glad someone pointed this out. Country and pop isnt some new thing that just happened in the past couple decades like people think.

Hell, Patsy Cline can be considered pop music for her time with her venture into the Nashville Sound.

Its an ebb and flow. Traditional country always makes a comeback on the radio.

We saw that in the 80s with the Neotraditional movement when acts like Randy Travis, Keith Whitley, Ricky Skaggs, Dwight Yokam, and Alan Jackson were on top, and somewhat in the 90s with Mark Chestnut, Tracy Lawrence, The Mavericks, Kenny Chesney(early work), etc..

If you listen to the radio now, you can see a lot of Bro Country leaving, being replaced with more traditional artists like Jon Pardi, William Michael Morgan, Luke Combs, and Chris Stapleton. Even the king of Nashville, Scott Borchetta and the Big Machine Label, are backing more traditional artists like Midland and Drake White.

country music today is like a blend of nelly, creed, and bad 80's guitar rolled into one mix of total shite.

Hank jr and Alabama are the grandfathers of bro country...

Borchetta.... he's begging Swift to get her next album out as he's needing some cash. It was supposed to come out in October but she pushed it back. McGraw even left for Sony a few months ago.

I think some Trace Adkins can be blamed for some of bro country

Garth Brooks is the correct answer. Terrible waste of tremendous talent.

Who are the top earning country songwriters for the last ten years?

It is his or their fault.

Rock radio died
Taylor Swift and Carrie Underwood become superstars
LA started producing and writing music in Nashville
Nashville filled the rock radio void
