Other than craigslist what are the best? Not eBay. There was a guitar thread on here a while back that named a few sites, and I can't remember the name. New and used (including vintage). I would like to torture myself shopping for things I don't need.

Whatever you decide just don't go to guitar center.

Reverb.com

That was my thread, I highly suggest reverb though. I sold my guitar on there for much more than I would've gotten any where else and I got an amazing deal on a new bass.

No. Guitar Center is just where you go to hold them. I know that. I'm just talking a site to stare at high end to attainable guitars and never buy anything.

I agree on Reverb.com. Chicago Music Exchange and Sweetwater are great as well. Sweetwater's customer service is second to none.

there are some great deals to be found on their used site.
the same return policies apply to items purchased off the used site as brand new.
never bought anything off reverb. sellers seem to overprice most items I've searched for.

The prices may be higher but Reverb lets you make offers. If you look you can find some really good deals. I got a new fender American vintage '58 Pbass for 1200. But I looked for about a month.

I second Sweetwater. Amazing customer service. They are the Amazon of the music world.

and, as a bonus, they send you candy with your purchase. (yes I'm fat)

Go to Guitar Center just to test out what you are wanting to buy. Just don't buy there, they will hustle the frick out of you.

Order from Sweetwater.

Hustle how? I've never sensed anything predatory about Guitar Center's salespeople.

Guitar Center gets a bad rep somehow. I've always had good experiences in them. To be honest some of the shittiest service I've ever gotten was in a small high end boutique shop.

Well in that case, you want Elderly Instruments. LINK
