Pretty good documentary. I forget how good of a guitarist he was. But, it was sad to see him go downhill over the course of his last tour.

But he can still play from muscle memory through Alzheimer's.

I saw him in his farewell tour, pretty sad to watch as my mother in law has dementia. He would forget lyrics and tell the same story. Hard to watch but he could still play

That doc was heartbreaking...

The Man was.. a member of the Wrecking Crew... a Beach Boy.. and recorded the definitive version (IMO) of Wichita Lineman..

He's a legend

Pretty sad to watch, I didn't really know about him until a month ago when I was watching the foo fighters show on HBO when they visited NOLA and they played his version of southern nights. His daughter is pretty hot.

Frankly, I don't know why anyone would even TRY to cover that song. You aren't going to do it any better.

Great song with a full orchestra.

Saw him at the beginning of the Farewell Tour and it was bittersweet. Still played and sang great, though.

They're showing the documentary on CNN right now, and it's more interesting to watch than that shite on CBS right now.

I was born in '71 and have been listening or watching Glen Campbell most of my life. The first thing I remember of his is one of the very first songs I can remember hearing, 'Rhinestone Cowboy'. I was only 4 but I can remember standing up in the front seat of our old Plymouth and singing along to the AM radio. As I got older I saw him on Hee Haw and other places, and was always floored by his guitar playing. But watching this doc, I finally realize what it is about his playing that most fascinated me.

It's the utter effortless way he plays the most amazing parts. It looks like he's barely trying yet the notes just come flying out in perfect bunches. And it just goes to show how incredible the human brain is in that he can barely function day to day yet you put a guitar in his hands and he plays as good as he ever did.

His multi-instrumentalist daughter is gorgeous and really talented.

My grandmother (born in 1907) was a huge fan of Glen Campbell. She had a number of his albums and one of her favorite songs was Gentle on My Mind.

My parents took me to see True Grit (1969) when I was about 2 years old. When I recognized Campbell in the film, I lost my shite and they had to take me out of there.

"YEN YAMELL! YEN YAMELL! IT'S YEN YAMELL."

Good times...

Damnation, but that was powerful.....

It's been almost three years since that his concert. As much as he'd deteriorated by that point, by now he can't be much longer for this world.

My grandpa used to let me ride the 25 cent horse at the mall when I was 3-4 years old and I would sing Like a Rhinestone Cowboy. To his dying day he loved telling me how intensely I belted it out and people would gather around to watch. I vaguely remember doing that but I always loved that song.
