Need some turntable recs please. While I consider myself a serious audiophile, it's been solely on digital front. I would like to dip my toe in the pure analog water to see how I like it. Some may scoff at my budget given my other equipment, but I want to make sure I am "in to" it before dropping a ton of cash. So, I would love to get some recs for entry level turntable that is a good enough player to give me an idea of what good analog sounds like.
Budget: Trying to stay under 800
Preamp: McIntosh C2500
Amp: McIntosh MC452
Speakers: B&W 802D and Focal Aria 936 (depends on mood)

Looking at what you have, I would strongly consider VPI Cliffwood - comes in at around $900, I believe. Marco will chime in - he is the resident authority here. I took the plunge with a used Rega P3 with a nice Sumiko Blue Point HOMC cartridge. I have $550 in mine. If you are willing to assume some risk, there is chance for some pretty good upside in secondary market. If VPI had the Cliffwood at the time I bought mine, I would've the extra $350 and bought it just to start with a new deck, but I'm happy with my situation.

That was a kick in the balls!
Got my depression on during Thanksgiving... wife had to work and my dad was being a tool and didn’t want to leave the house. My poor mom has been gone almost 5 yrs now and we haven’t had a proper thanksgiving since she passed. Sat at the house and got all tuned up watching concerts! Had that knob turned right too!
Went grub at a friends house after... ended being a good day.

It's amazing what a huge speaker and big power can do!
Those Dynaudios are no slouches...fast and articulate.

For those interested...
The next 2 album titles to be released in the Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc format have been named...
Simon & Garfunkel..."Bridge Over Troubled Water"
Stevie Ray Vaughn & Double Trouble..."Texas Flood"
You can bet that the SRV will be sold out in a day.
I believe 3000 are pressed and they will be $99 apiece.
Music Direct will be taking orders soon...I will announce here when the pre-order date is.

Damn...
Not real sure what is considered a good pressing quite yet.... but SRV was my first dive into the blues...
Should I jump on that?

Big power for sure (not too many of the Allnic M5000s in the wild), and a direct drive turntable.

I have to buy gear with a much higher Wife Acceptance Factor. That and my son would turn one of those amps into an expensive pile of glass with one stray soccer ball juggle. Really though, I'd guess that stereo cost more than my house.

Didn’t realize anyone on the coast was that into it.... I know a good bit of people there, but have seen nothing like that....
