Anyone Been To an Allman Brothers Show?

Specifically when Duane was still alive.
I'm 22 and I get jealous when I hear stories from my dad and his brothers talk about shows they went to at the Warehouse in New Orleans. One of them being the Allman Brothers. They said it was hard to see the stage with all the smoke in the air
I'm sure seeing Duane after consuming some beers and maybe some other substances would be an out-of-this-world experience

Not that old...
I did see them on the Seven Turns tour--something like 1988-89 at Keiffer UNO arena.
I have seen them a couple more times at larger festivals since then.

In my 50's, but was too young to catch them, when Duane was still alive.
I have picked with some guys that actually played in the studio with him,and some that were engineer helpers back then and stuff. I missed the real shite though.

I would imagine someone would have to be pushing 60 today to have seen Duane...and they would have been 16 or 17 at the time just before he died--that was a long time ago.

That was almost any 1970's concert.

Uncle saw him in '71 I believe. You hit the nail on the head though. He was a junior/senior in high school and drove from Lafayette with his friends every weekend to go see shows at the Warehouse. Saw Led Zeppelin, Alman Brothers and Jethro Tull just to name a few. I could only imagine the atmosphere of that place. What a time...

I missed Duane by not exiting while he was alive but I have seen the bros 5 times now. it is no Dickey and Duane but trucks/WH was a good time
The Greg allman band is worth going to if he ever is healthy. I have caught that a few times. Great small venue concert.
Wanee a few years ago for their 40th anny was incredible

Made the laser light shows much more impressive (in more ways than one).

Well I'm your man. I'm 64 and I did see the original ABB with Duane Allman twice in 1970. The best was New Years Eve in New Orleans at the Warehouse. I was in B.R. and about 4 of us drove down just to see them. I play guitar, so I was impressed with Duane and Dickey Betts. They started at 11:00pm and played until about 2:00. Played all their live album at the Fillmore in the set. They were the tightest, best band I every saw in my life. Very full house, very smokey, people sat on the floor in little groups mostly, no chairs we didn't care. Saw them in Nashville on a family trip and at Northeast in Monroe also[no smoke then]. Saw them at Ole Miss in a concert with the 2 new guitar players, were not as good. I just drove over to see them about 1999,2000. Not the same.

Dad saw them when they were the Allman Joys. Think he told me Duane was still in high school at the time. It was at a wedding or engagement party or something. I forget the lineage but dad had a friend whose mom was somehow related to the Allmans.

You win! I did see them for the first time in 1975. There's been many shows since then, but that first one really stands out.

Ive been to 3. Was born long after Duane died, but Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks are fantastic guitarists and do a great job.

Saw them at the Superdome, about 1975. Wet Willie, Marshall Tucker Band, ABB. Gregg had his left arm in a cast.
When I was a freshman at LSU in 1974, it was rumoured that ABB would play in Baton Rouge at Tiger Stadium. Obviously never happened.
